This wasn't my first time applying a coating as I own a Detailing Co. But to answer your question, Prep is key.

The car needs to be cleaned thoroughly to remove tar and dirt, clay barred to remove rail road and brake dust that becomes imbedded, and prepped properly for lasting results. If you have imperfections in the paint they will need to be polished out also before you apply a Coating to your paint surface.

As for application do small areas at a time and apply the product using a cross hatch style so you apply it evenly. Take your time and don't rush. With a properly prepped car the application is a breeze. It's the work before the application that's hard.

Can I use it on my black 1LE wheels, assuming I clean etc.

I would assume the horror stories were from Operator error.
Probably trying to do to big of an area at one time.
That will cause an unevenness and product build up in areas.
It does well on wheels also. On our ZL1/1LE wheels I've found it's best to start with the lip and work your way towards the center so you don't miss any areas, the valve stem works as a good marker. Than flip the wheel and do the barrel. Lmk if you have any questions?

I bet! Seth is an amazing detailer, so I can only imagine how great it looks! You need to make it out to more stuff this year, especially with that beautiful car!
