...All good....I think these will work out just fine for our Camaros....

...Not sure if I'll get the car back tonight or not....But will have promised pics and "reviews" up as soon as possible....

My main concern is having the clearances and settings I need for my track and street tires and wheels....Will put up details on all that later as well....

Tom

Hello Guys - I too am interested in upgrading my stock suspension (2012 - 2SS - Coupe - w/FE4), but am concerned about voiding my warranty. Since I'm drooling over the RideTech Coilovers, is the upgrade worth the risk?

There is minimal risk in a suspension upgrade to your warranty. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnuso...s_Warranty_Act aside, parts related to a strut shock change are limited to related suspension components - tie rod ends, ball joints, bushings, arms and steering rack. We know as a community these components are not prone to failure. There are always going to be a handful of new car dealers, regardless of brand, that run around like chicken little. Get to know the Chevy dealers in your area so you know in advance which ones deserve your service and warranty business,

@ JusticePete - Thanks for the response, and reference. My local Dealership has what's called a 1LE upgrade: Contents include a front and rear stabilizer bar, ZL1 wheel bearings, toe links, and rear shock mounts for improved on-track performance. I read an earlier post, where a ZL1 owner was upgrading to Ridetech Coilovers. I'm looking more for the improved ride quality, and handling, for everyday driving. Open to opinions on where the money is best spent ...; and, the ZL1 package will not give me the height adjustment capability which would be nice.

As a 1LE owner I can tell you the 1LE package is impressive. There is always room for improvement. There is also considerably more to a 1LE than that package.

That being said with the inability to get all the Pedders products I did my damnedest to duplicate the Permagrin kit. I also am planning on getting some coil over's in the next few months. Ridetech is in the lead for what I plan to buy. Pete's endorsement among others is doing wonders for my decision making process...

I will compose a few short posts regarding different aspects of our Camaro coil over kit, mainly pertaining to questions that have been raised in this thread.

I need to start with our shock naming conventions and product lines so we all know to what I am referring. We offer the following shock families with the corresponding adjustment options:

Q-Series “Smooth Body” shocks: monotube OE replacement
-RQ (Ride Quality): Fixed valve
-HQ (Handling Quality): rebound adjustable

2.0-Series “Threaded Coil Over” shocks: aluminum threaded body monotube shock used in both our coil over kits as well as our Shockwave (air spring) kits. However, these shocks can be used as a “stand alone” shock without the coil over parts.
-RQ (Ride Quality): Fixed valve
-HQ (Handling Quality): rebound adjustable
-TQ (Track Quality): single rebound, high speed compression, low speed compression

Struts: threaded steel body monotubes; 7/8” shaft
-HQ (Handling Quality): rebound adjustable
-TQ (Track Quality): single rebound, high speed compression, low speed compression

All of the shocks listed above are supplied by Fox Racing Shox. However, that does not mean that we just throw them in Ridetech boxes and send them out the door. We are VERY heavily involved in the design and development of each of our dampers. Typically Fox does the inside and we do the outside design. Fox has been gracious enough to “open the catalog” to us and let us pick out whatever parts they have. If they don’t have it we design it and either we build it or Fox does, depending on volume and complexity.
Valve code development is performed by both parties, both independently as well as together at many dedicated test sessions and general track outings throughout the year. There are times when we have to rent a track to get enough time and “room” to perform the required testing. Most of the time we’ll invite a few Ridetech equipped customer cars to come out and play to provide feedback on changes.

We have a full shock design/service department housed inside the Engineering office about 10 feet from my desk so we can spend all day playing on the dyno, that can rebuild, revalve, custom build, ect; which is stocked with every single part it takes to build any shock we sell. We also build a lot of the development parts in-house when trying out new designs and ideas.

I will start answering questions above with shock dyno graphs. I have attached both the front (HQ strut) and the rear (HQ coil over).

Do you have shock dyno graphs that contrast the HQ against a stock strut or shock? I am wondering how the softest settings compare to a stock set up. I want to keep my daily driver pleasant, but capable to transforming into a track performer a few times each year.

I'll get those up on Monday when we are back in the shop.

I can tell you we radically improved the ride quality of our 2010. Before it felt like the front and rears were not matched very well. . .it wanted to "buck" over bumps. Now it handles bumps much more confidently and the "butt dyno" feels way better.
We also have an electronic ride meter that we use for coarse adjustments.
Here's a link to an article that shows the ride meter:

I have the FE4 suspension on the 2012 which is an upgrade from the FE3 2010 suspension. As I have made it better for the track with sway bars, bushings and lower profile tires, I have incrementally sacrificed some ride quality. I want to know what if any trade off I will be making in switching to Ride Tech coilovers.

I don't know of any trade offs or sacrifices you will be making by upgrading to our CoilOvers. The valve code and spring rates are engineered with ride quality in mind, so it's an improvement across the board.

As many of you know we have been a strong installer\dealer of Pedders and Pfadt for many years. We have also been a Ridetech installer\dealer and have been installing their parts for several years now on pro touring type cars as our vendor of choice.
With that being said the timing of their 5Th gen parts could not have came at a better time for the 5Th gen Camaro owner. They will fill the void left by two great vendors that we all worked with and supported our cars.
RideTech offer some of the very best parts and service in aftermarket performance suspension.Britt Marloff is the lead engineer at RideTech he knows suspension inside and out.
