2014 Camaro SS vs Infiniti Q50
It's a hypothetical as I doubt anyone will really match them up. As a 10 year Infiniti owner I can tell you these cars are quick. Fast. Corner unreal. Brakes are silly good.
So why am I looking to get a new Camaro and not the Q50? Well I think on this board the performance stuff gets too much hype. How can you measure heart rate? How can you measure excitement to turn the key (Infiniti's don't have keys but you know what I mean)? I like to call it captivating the imagination. The Gen5 Camaro does that. After waiting for the Q50 to be shown, I am not captivated. I want this SS car. Please let this winter get going out so I can get this done.

A 14sec car Q50 is fast? Modded ones have seen 13.50s but still you can get 11s out of an SS with a few mods.

From Edmunds:
"Its 3.7-liter V6 and seven-speed automatic powertrain, while largely carried over, remains a standout. The V6 boots the 3,603-pound sedan forward with such authority that you might mistake it for a V8. It's tremendous. The stats alone of 328 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque don't sufficiently convey its hugely flexible power delivery, or the rapid rate at which it turns that truck lumbering in your lane into a dot in the Q50's mirror. That power is backed by a sharp, capable transmission calibration that's not afraid to drop a few gears and tap into the engine's ability to rev. In our testing the Q50 finished the 0-60-mph sprint in 5.5 seconds (5.2 with one foot of rollout like on a drag strip) and ran the quarter mile in 13.7 seconds at 102.8 mph." It's not that slow, but again, lacks most any excitment factor.

^ I see you have a G35. I had a 2003 sedan and I liked the car as it was pretty quick, but I love my 2013 SS. It definitely has that FUN factor.

I had the 2005 G35X and then the 2008 G35X until now. The new Q50 just is not doing it for me and the jacked price tag is absurd IMO.

I completely agree about Infiniti prices - they are insanely expensive. I think they're trying to compete with the German luxury brands way too much.

To my way of thinking, and I am a scientist, just jacking up a price point by 10-15K just makes you a total ass%ole. Stupid. Dealership keeps calling/email/hassle at service visits to get the Q50. Maybe it's overpriced for an unchanged car? Ever think of that?

The 1le package will ensure the SS corners very well. However, there one will be no option for an automatic with the 1le package.
The 1le is a good combination of very livable daily driver manners with huge extra handling capacity on demand. I have not been disappointed. I transitioned out of a highly modded very capable corner carver. There is one thing to remember though. The SS has pronounced rear wheel drive "character." The rear will break loose and kick out fairly easily. It is controllable, but quite a big difference coming from a planted STI. I am glad I had prior muscle car experience to gauge by.

I forgot to mention the fun/excitement factor. That is the sole reason for my decision to buy the car. I already have a track car, so my purpose was to buy the most exciting daily driver I could find.
In my opinion, there is nothing which compares to the v8 sounds combined with the six-speed. Very engaging. This is how I want to spend my commute.
