Most people can't tell the difference with a stock system from what if seen. I can tell between 320 mp3s and cd quality though. Put a better amp and speakers and it really makes a difference.
I have some of the highest regarded brand of high end speakers (as used in Abbey Road Studios and the Lucasfilm Skywalker Ranch - hint B&W 800 series) in my home theater system which is setup properly with room treatment, positioning, and running Audyssey MultEQ XT32 for the final touch and I also have some highly regarded Sennheiser audiophile headphones and I can't tell the difference between a properly encoded 320KB\s MP3 and a CD.... What I can tell is recording quality between studios and artists vary greatly! Now if you're using a crappy MP3 encoder, then that's a different thing... But when encoded properly, you'll never tell in a blind test (taking the placebo effect out of the equation).

Personally I'm glad they took the CD player out, I never use mine.... They're cumbersome and old fashion. Oh yea, don't like um... compare playing MP3 wirelessly or Bluetooth or over crappy analog to a CD because it's the transport at fault, not the MP3...

2012 is the best. Everything fixed with the older models and only year for my favorite color: Carbon flash metallic

2013 as its the last good looking year with every option I want, the others- recaro seats, color hud&dic I will retro fit. r6p 2010 follows close second, no holes in rear bumper for park sensors and that I still own mine.

2011 because Synergy Green Metallic SS was available

I Have LT/RS so I wouldn't say my choice is entirely based on my car.

However based on color I couldn't have anything but a SGM. (Vin Matching)

2010 is 2nd because it was the birth model year for SGM.

I like the 2011's just because that's the only year that had the Retro speedometer numbers with the HUD. I love the Retro speedometer numbers but I also love the 12-13 dash and steering wheel. Well, I like the 10-11 steering wheel and dash.

So 2011 for me!

I have only used Microsoft media player to convert. Is that my problem? I took the CD and ripped it as a 320 mp3. then played them both. I could tell the difference in my truck. it only had a top Alpine unit with a 350w 4 channel with infinity kappa components. With CDs is was amazing quality mp3s sucked. They suck in my BA Camaro too with a alpine 450w 4 ch and infinity 12" with 500w alpine amp. I do think i have a very good ear for it though

I should have bought a ZL1

I haven't ripped mp3's with Windows Media Player since around when WinXP came out but I don't remember it being horrendously bad. The LAME MP3 codec seems to be a highly regarded MP3 codec. I use dbpoweramp with the LAME mp3 coded to rip my CD's to 320KB/s constant bitrate mp3. Dbpoweramp will compare your rips to a online database to make sure they're perfectly ripped. What are you using to play the mp3s? The decoder can be as important as the encoder sometimes. Shoddy resampling and other things can come into play.

I've tried many times comparing lossless to mp3 with high quality headphones with the same songs in shuffled order so I didn't know which format was playing and I couldn't tell a difference with even the most minute details (fine background details you wont be able to hear on a poor sound system). I do have a fellow audio enthusiast friend who has commented on my mp3's saying that mine always seem to sound better than he's used to. Could be in fact I'm using superior software and encoding codecs to make my mp3's.

Own an 11, but the 2013 takes the cake IMO. Tech upgrades with best styling, not a fan of the new tails, too integra like.
