Motor Trend's Z/28 video test review with Randy Pobst

THE TRANS AM RACER RETURNS

I just cam across this video link on Motor Trend's Ignition Mondays YouTube page of the Z/28 test from Birmingham's Barber Motorsports park which will go active Monday.

Carlos Lago and the team puts the Z/28 through test runs with also Randy Pobst providing some hot laps in the car.

Monday is sure feeling a lot like Christmas morning with all the embargoed tests being made available some time after midnight tonight. Video is listed as private until after the embargo is lifted.

I like your new signature line quote

I'll post some up shortly for GT3 and GT3 Cup cars, a friend is a driving instructor there at Barber for Porsche Sport Driving School.

Porsche GT3 (with some non-stock suspension tweaks) on Hoosier R6's on the new Barber surface (diamond cut) = 1:34-:35, so stock GT3 on stock tires 1:39-:40.

Mustang 302R racecar on slicks on the old surface at Barber ran a 1:36.9, so figure it'll run a 1:35 flat (on slicks) on new surface (approx)

If the Z/28 is in the 1:38-:40 range, especially in the cold temps they had to run it, it's game-over for Porsche and a whole new paradigm.

:40-:42 would still be wholly respectable for a car that is 1/2 the price of a GT3 to buy and 1/4 the price to repair, and a laudable achievement.

Man oh man -- the tidal wave hits Monday! I fully expect the flood of good publicity this car gets to be something else, given the performance for the price...

I just read the article, so it is up on the site now.

Also the one on Hot Rod magazine with the race against Big Red is up as well.
