We'll probably be doing exactly that but at this time I think we may put them both out the passenger side - we're just not sure yet..

I thought GM was going to offer a "body-in-white" for the explicit purpose of building race cars. It's a shame to take a street car and strip everything to get down to that point. So much more work and money.

I'm anning side exhaust for mine as well... Curious why you'd dump both to pass side vs one on either side??

Also, those Thorley headers are super sweet... What's typical cost for them?

SERIOUSLY interested in watching this build! Now if I could only get a build date for my 2SS/RS!!

The BIW is not going to be available until sometime in 2010.. Something to do with a bankruptcy I heard...

Also - there's a number of other advantages to starting with a complete car - If you're not building a drag only car, you'd pay a fortune for the front and rear suspension alone since they're not sold in complete assemblies. Then you'd still have to buy the engine/trans, ECU, Wiring harness etc... Lotsa parts....

I've done it this way with late model Corvettes as well and we ended up coming out better in the long run over buying the shells on a dolly..

You are right though - it's a ton of work to get it to this point. Especially when everything has been uninstalled with the express intent of making parts re-sale worthy.. I believe there are some salvage yards and a few body shops that are already interested in all of the parts..

As a driver (not of this particular car) - I like the exhaust to be away from me so I have a better chance of hearing my traffic, my radio, or if there's something going wrong with the car... Also - Most tracks have sound control on the outside of the track - this is where they take the sound pressure (db) readings... If you're over the sound limit, they throw the black flag on you and you're pretty well done unless you can make the car quieter.. Most Roadrace tracks we run at are run in a Clockwise Direction - putting the driver's side of the car to the outside of the track.

I think the headers were around $500 - I don't recall for sure. I think they could have done a better job on the collectors myself..

Very Nice. Can't wait to see the finished product. Have had my 1SS out Auto Crossing, w/no suspension adjustment. in F Stock. Very fast but cornering on tight corners it pushes a lot... Very slow in and very fast out helps. Will have the front sway bar changed out... along with Koni's. Alittle neg camber in the and rear will help. Any any suggestions will help also. Also stock tires since they don't make any R rated tires yet
