Sorry about your loss... Whenever I come across these threads it always seems like the impact is caused by some unattentive driver in a crappy ass mini-van or daily beater who either was too busy texting or trying to make a phone call instead of paying attention to the road in front of him or her. Good luck with your claim and I hope you get back on the road again soon!

The entire rear suspension/diff cradle drops out as a single unit in these cars. This might be a lot closer to being repairable than you think.
I would be doing whatever it took to get a check instead of the car back though. Good Luck!

Do you have any more photos. I was just in your shoes so I know it sucks. From the description and photos my guess is this is getting repaired.
This was my car and it was a coin flip wether to repair or not. As a matter of fact my insurance didn't total it until I was determined not at fault. So even in their mind this was repairable with 19k estimate for repairs. I had frame damage and all air bags deployed Just be very picky about the repairs cause I think this is a clear repair. |

Sorry to say but that car is getting fixed. It's not close to being totaled. I feel your pain. Get the best shop possible to do the work.

Damn that's pretty awful looking with the close up pictures. I hope they have a good sheet metal guy who doesn't get carried away with bondo and fillers. That is a massive piece of sheet metal to cut and re-section in, if possible have them log the repair process with pictures to make sure they are being scrupulous about fixing your car properly. I had to have my 2005 GTO painted 5 times! The body shop did horrendous work and my car never looked right after that. The rear quarter panel had ripples from a stupid kid's bike handlebars marring up my sheet metal. Sure the paint looked good when you stare directly at it but at a 15 degree angle all you could see was sanding marks and hacker work. I really hope this works out for you in the end sorry they wont total it!
Maybe find someone to take a nice gas can and a flare to it before they start work so it will just burn to the ground? lol sorry |

In-progress photo....
Can't say I'm thrilled about my car being cut on. I looked the procedure up on I-Car and the cuts are in the factory specified locations. |

The shop called and told me that my car would be ready today. I went to look it over, but couldn't accept it. It was mostly good, but I could see the repair in the body line that runs down the c-pillar along with a few small craters/fisheyes.
They acknowledged the problem and said they would do whatever it takes to get it right. Windows will be coming back out to rework the c-pillar, then back to paint. I did have them order ZL1 rockers for it, I do like the way they turned out. Total of repairs came in at around $9,700.00 |
