Polishers

I'm looking into purchasing a polisher that is easier for a beginner and reasonable in price. However, I still want it to get the job done. Does anyone have some suggestions on what works best for them?

From what I have read, a griots or a porter cable will fit your needs.

The best one is Griots random orbital, helps keep operator error to a minimum. Most polishers are not random orbit and take some time to master.

I have no experience except attending a detail clinic and watching a few videos. I just polished my metallic blue Volt using the PC and it turned out great. It was easy to use and did not take that long. Seems to be a good unit for beginners.

Define reasonable in price? Off the top of my head, I'd list the PC 7424xp, the griots 6", and the flex 3401.

The PC (Porter Cable) is hard to beat in terms of reliability, price and ease of use. The Griot's Garage is more powerful than the PC, although not quite as durable. The Meguiar's G110v2 is the most comfortable of that lot, although more expensive than the other two.

For a more expensive, although better option, the Rupes BigFoot System is offers much faster correction while maintaining the safety margins of the bigger polishers. Their easy-to-use, color-coded system takes much of the guess work out of polishing and I have seen absolute newbs get stunning results in just minutes.

The FLEX 3401 is a highly-engineered, German-built tool that combines the best results of a DA polisher (like a Porter Cable) with a high-speed rotary polisher.

There are a lot of options, and a wide variety in price as well. If you have any questions, feel free to give me a call @ 877.855.3125 ext 3202 and we can discuss any questions or concerns.

I'm looking in the 200 dollar range for a system that I can get good results with.

I had never used a polisher before, I have a lot of respect for CD7 so took his recommendation and went with the Griots random orbital. It is very very easy to use and gets the job done.

Looking through everything it looks like I'm going to go with the Griot's. Now what polishes and pads does everyone use that seem to be best?
