OK, but if the official weight is based on the base model (lightest configuration?), then how can someone's car (with gas) weigh less??

On the tire sticker on my ss it says not to exceed 732 lbs of of occupants and cargo.
Subtract from gvwr and you get 4667-732=3935 which should be about right for 2ssrs manual not scientific but would include full tank of gas and fluids.

I just weighed mine on Monday and it came in at 4100 with the roll cage, 1/3 tank of gas and 1 full bottle of nitrous, no driver. I have the lightest wheels and tires I own on the car, added racing brake lightweight rotors and swapped out the front and rear crash bars for lightweight replacements since the last weigh. The net gain with my last group of mods was 40 pounds for the cage and nitrous....and the nitrous bottle weighs 35 pounds so it was a good trade off.

Assuming all fluids including gas are topped off, no option is a weight reducing option, and nothing is removed from the car (like spare tires, manuals, etc.), it should not. +-100lbs error is also not-so-uncommon on scales

Yes.
A convertible is not an option available on a car, it's a car in itself.

I believe no sunroof is going to be a weight reducing option.

Cool

GVWR or gross vehicle weight rating has nothing to do with actual weight of the vehicle itself. It refers to the max recommended weight of the vehicle when fully loaded with passengers, cargo etc.

Vehicle weight is affected by a lot of factors, such as options, amount of fluids etc etc.

The gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR), or gross vehicle mass (GVM) is the maximum operating weight/mass of a vehicle as specified by the manufacturer including the vehicle's chassis, body, engine, engine fluids, fuel, accessories, driver, passengers and cargo but excluding that of any trailers.

Just in case anyone needs a definition of GVWR. Everyone thinks the door sticker is the empty weight of the car when in fact it is there for the weight rating with cargo and passengers included, etc.

I started this tread to get the vehicle weight, not the GVW, or what the projected weight is, or what people think. If you have had your car WEIGHED at a scale, then that is what I am interested in.

What confuses me is: Why aren't the published specs sufficient?

Weighed mine yesterday at the track, was 4060.
Had the 18's on the back and saved some weight with the headers so I'd say my sunroof A6 car is 4100lbs with a quarter tank.
