Apparently, they are so backed up with cars overdue to ship that they had to use an overflow lot to park them and my car was moved to this secondary lot. He says the cars on the overflow lot will be first to be shipped as rail cars come available and assures me it will be shipped soon, although my status hasn't changed.

For those of you wanting to close your deal in M!arch to secure your incentives, this is exactly what I just did this morning. I had zero issues, it was very smooth. I stacked three GM incentives no problem and feel like I netted a very strong deal. I am very pleased with my dealer and the entire transaction, I just need a car to go with it.
Do you get the title on the spot or do you have to wait?

My dealer WILL NOT sell me the car. He just told me that things are different on the west coast deliveries. The GM rep sent a letter out at the beginning of the year to all west coast dealers to not sell (doing paper work with NO car) until the car is in the west coast distribution center and on the road for delivery to the dealer. He knows I'm paying cash for the car, and they will not take it?? WEIRD

You don't ever get the title on the spot. You sign paperwork for the title to be created by your state BMV, which I did today. Of course, every dealer charges you a line item fee for title so, its on them to apply for it and deliver it within a required time frame.

I have thought through the potential problems with my "pre-purchase" and it could get complicated if, for example, my new car (which I now technically own) were to be stolen or totaled enroute. I did initiate insurance coverage today just in case.

How much in incentives for March did you have? It could be better for you in April but you should have the option if you have a VIN.

I didn't have any incentives for March, this isn't my first time with GM, and I'm kinda used to this whole waiting 4-8 weeks after the car is produced before we ever see it. I was playin Chevys bluff on incentives, and hopin for big numbers in April. I'm stealing the car from the dealer because of cash sale , so anything extra in incentives is just a giant present to us!

Good for you. I will GUAR-AN-TEE you there will be strong incentives on Camaro in April. And, if you decide they may be better than what comes along later, you should have the choice of when you close once you have a VIN.

One point of order on the Private Order. It requires that you buy out of dealer inventory. I was a little concerned about that since I ordered from the factory, but it was never made an issue by my dealer. I noted on the "buyers order" I got today that it showed a dealer stock number. So apparently, that is automatically assigned on every car to come through the dealership. So technically, every car sold is "out of dealer inventory".

Very good info! Didn't think about that! I'm always slapping there hands with cutting the hold back pricing , and getting the real invoice price. Right now my pricing is right at the 40 mark for a 2SS/RS ,NAV, NPP, RECAROS, AND NO SUN ROOF 1LE. Any incentive off that is MUSIC to my ears!

Here's what you've got going for you...

-GM has had to shut down Oshawa for 3 of 5 weeks due to excess inventory reported to be 200 DSI (which is ideally 60). Manufacturers HATE to shut down their plants because capacity utilization is the Holy Grail of cost. Run at less than 90% and your unit costs start rising dramatically.
-new 2015 Mustang is stealing share
-competitors have better incentives, witness Dodge Challenger's March $2000 customer cash
-Private Offers seem to be ending--recent offers are only good through end of March even though that means less than a week of validity. Mine was obtained in mid-Feb good thru March.
-Mary needs your money. She just added 800,000 cars to the recall list now totaling 4MM units

There is only one solution to GM's mounting cash flow woes....move out the inventory. I suspect we may see some of the best incentives EVER in April.

Bring on the incentives! I didn't even try for a private offer when I started hearing people say they were only good threw 3/30 , I knew my car would never make it in march, and even April is going to be a stretch, I hope it's here and delivered by 5/5. I will get the rail car number and when that thing is within a 200 mile radius I will go hunt it down , stalk the train yard until it gets loaded on rubber tires, then follow the truck driver until he gets to my dealer . Take the keys and not let one KID get his feet on my pedals! Watch the SERVICE dept like hawks to make sure they don't put HOLES in my front bumper for some stupid plate that it will never wear, along with the dealer logo. That will be a long day I'm sure, but I can't wait!

Well, we're in the same boat. I was greatly encouraged yesterday by my salesman's conviction that there had been movement toward shipment.

I closed on my deal yesterday and when he showed me the invoice it said April 7th delivery date. Plus or minus a cple days more then likely.
I figured it would have been around mid to late april. Guess we will see
One thing he did tell me and what I heard from another gm salesman, even though we signed the papers we don't own the car till its curbsided. So if anything comes up or if u have more money to put down or April has better incentives you could do the signing over again. Not that I would want to but he did make that clear to me since my wife was a little hesitant since we don't physically have the car yet.

The car is in NJ - made it to Port Elizabeth over the weekend.

So I guess that answers the question, do cars move and get through customs over the weekend.

Dealer said it would spend at least 72 hours in Doremeus/Port Elizabeth before it might get a haul up to the dealer.

Its going to be a good week!
