Open sun-roof and stick head through it?
sorry thought the thread needed some comical relief.Seems to be some interest around this from all the threads I read, maybe can go to an aftermarket racing seat manufacturer and see what they can provide or maybe develop a custom solution if there is interest. Unfortunately if you run out of luck there, you might have to find your own custom solution :\

Hey man, no worries at all. I wasn't having the best day yesterday and I'm sorry that I responded to you the way that I did. Still looking for a solution but I'm excited to see what Samasche's contact at carID has in mind. Please keep posting any ideas anyone has and thank you! Sent from my abacus |

Same problem here. DD driving is ok but a helmet is a tight fit. Best bet is an aftermarket seat or custom built seat bracket.

Got a reply back from the Lady at AutoID that she is forwarding the information I sent her to the manufacturer. I'll post again as soon as I get something definitive from her on aftermarket seats/brackets.

Okay, finally got an anwer from CarID. Here is the Email string:
SSTNT: I have a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS with Sunroof. I’m over 6’2” tall and my head is nearly up against the liner. Do your aftermarket seats provide ANY additional headroom (sit lower) than the stock seats, and if so which ones? CarID: We are ready to help you and have several solutions! Please measure the heights from the floor to the seat cushion, and also the thickness of the stock seat cushion; we will be able to make the best suggestion. SSTNT: The best I can measure, the very front of the seat at the highest part is 8 ½” inches from the floor, while the deepest part of the seat down near where the back is attached is about 5” from the floor. In front the cushion measures about 4” thick, while in the back it’s probably about 3”. CarID: After a lengthy discussion with our manufacturer's technician , he told me it should be about 1+ inch lower than stock at least, with the 2001 low profile seat. The bracket is about 2.5"+/-high + 1.5" of the slider + 3" thick of the seat. The total should be around 7"+ and it should still be lower than the stock for about one inch or more. The seating height should be lower for sure, but we cannot guarantee by how much. Ok, so that's it so far. If your measurement vary from mine (which I would suggest you do)....then contact them yourself and don't bit*h at me about it. :-) From what they say, you should be able to get at least another 1" of headroom with their seat/bracket, maybe 1.5" if you are lucky. Good luck! You can email them at: Sales@CarID.com

DEFINITIVE way to lower seat? What seat/bracket?

Thank you SO much for taking the time to email them and post here. 1" would be cutting it close but 1.5-2" should be perfect for me, it's worth a shot I think. I'll double check what measurements I find and contact them. Will post what I find here if (when) I pull the trigger on these seats. Thanks again! Sent from my abacus |

I apologize that I'm at least several weeks away from beginning the process... I leave tomorrow for work for two weeks and may be going to Nigeria immediately after getting home from there... I'll be following along... As an aside, I did buy a set of racing seats almost two years ago... With bracket sliders... That was an expensive lesson in what doesn't work... They were top of the line seats and sucked bad... I had them in the car for three days, jerked them out and ended up giving them away... Be damn sure you gets seats with plenty of bolster support... Mine had none with the supplied brackets, think sitting flat, and I had to hold my leg up to drive... My tail bone is all that touched the seat bottom... My leg would cramp in ten to 15 minutes due to no support...

Agreed. That was the main reason why I didn't buy Camaro when they came out. Seat sits too low for my taste but didn't mess with the seat adjustment on test drive(also I knew were a G8 GXP was and bought it). I need to make some spacers or something I guess for the passenger seat.
