******** Amp Rack/Sub Box Fitment Question (need to know by March 27)
I'm installing the ******** Large Driver's Side box in my '13 vert on Friday. I've test fitted it without the sub in it, lowered/raised my roof, and it's a great fit.
Thing is the BA amp looks awfully snug with the sub box in place. I am replacing the BA amp with an Alpine PDX V9. I've purchased the ******** amp rack and planned on using the stock location to mount the amp. Between the thickness of the amp rack and amp I can't see it fitting though Has anyone installed this set up in their convertible? If so, let me know if you were able to fit the sub box past the PDX V9 mounted on the ******** amp rack. Photos would be great! If not, am I looking at having to install the amp elsewhere? Really wanted to use the factory location. Thanks. |

No worries man. All of our side boxes (coupe and vert) are made specifically to work in conjunction with the ba amp in place or a suitable replacement amp and the factory carpet placed over top. It would take quite an extra bulge to have any interference.

So the amp rack with a PDX-V9 will fit with the factory carpet placed on top? That's sweet - thanks Steve.

Hey Steve - this is the Alpine PDX-V9 installed with the amp rack and the sub box. It is a compact amp but still VERY snug - bit concerned about overheating and may have to move it. I've left the rear plastic trim off for now just so it gets moving air. Any suggestions?

Hey BronxRS, which JL sub is that, and what's that piece to the right of the sub; is that part of the box? |

O ok. Just wondering because I have not seen that before. Is that box from ********? Maybe its because you have a vert. I have heard that is a monster of a sub! That 500 watts enough to power that without any issues?

Yes, it's the "large" driver's side stealth ******** box with a cut out for the 10W7. The birth sheet on my amp shows it pushing 553W RMS to the sub channel. That is plenty for this puppy.

Sweet! I want one of those subs so bad, but I would have to hit the lottery to get it . I am going to get the Alpine amp though. I see you had some concerns with yours over heating; have you put the cover back on, and not had any issues?

I am pushing about 700w to mine and no problems. The bass is brutal. Would put mine up against the $950 jl vert box with 2x10w3s any day of the week.

Agreed. This sub just kills. Incidentally Steve, do you see any heat issues with my amp wedged in along the box like that? It's a D-class Alpine that runs cool enough but it is a tight fit. I was thinking of possibly replacing the thicker ******** amp rack with a skinnier diy custom fiberglass or other type mount in the same location. Appreciate your thoughts based on my photos above. Thanks.

I am still waiting for someone else who has this set up to comment on the photo though. Has anyone else got an amp on the rack this close to a box (touching)? Anyone? |

Bronx, how thick is the amp mount from ********? I was just thinking of making my own amp mount with 1/4 or 1/2 inch MDF, but if Steve says there's no issues with a set-up like yours I'll just buy the ******** amp mount with the box.
