I will have to see about that. I'm not real good at that stuff, but my dad was an electrical engineer so I bet he can help me out.

On another note. Lim told me he hopes to have the OBD2 up and running for 4.0 in the next month or two.

Man, I hope it doesn't take a whole month!

I don't know if any of you guys follow xda-developers, but there's been a few discussions over there about the AN-21U, android head unit. Apparently, this unit we've been discussing in an AN-21U in a fancy faceplate. And while that seems like just "nice to know" information, it is more than that. It's more because some of the people over on xda-developers are modding their units. In fact, they've figured out how to hard-wire an external microphone to their units.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...4&postcount=46

I don't know if that would work for these units, but maybe it would. Somebody would have to take theirs apart to get to the board in the device and look for those two mic connectors on the board, then connect a mic to test it. IMO, the next step would be to wire that to the in-car, Onstar mic.

I saw that buy wasn't sure if it was the same unit. I did a quick post about this brand but no answer. Have to compare the build numbers and model numbers, which I have never done. On my to do list

Hi All,
Would it be a good idea if I sell my stock Mylink 2013 w/o nav and buy this one? and any idea how much cost the stock Mylink?

Also if I used this one, what function I will missing, I don't have NAV or hud in my 1LT convertible?

Thanks much!

Mike

I have no experience with Mylink so I don't know what you would lose from it. I know with the basic radio I did lose the outside temperature reading that showed.

You might be able to get $400 for the faceplate. The silver box would be essentially useless as it is locked to your car's VIN.

Any New Info

Hey guys,

I'm just looking for an update from all the current owners and those of you speaking with the developer.

1. Is there still a fitment issue (do the tabs and posts still need to be cut down so the unit sits flush?)
2. Is the phone BT connection solved?
3. Hands free mic is also an issue I believe. Has this been addressed?
4. Has the developer increased the internal memory?

any other new issues that have come up? How is the unit holding up to use?

Looking at prior posts it looks like a USB unit needs to be purchased for console hook up, is there a preferred unit for this?

Some have chosen to purchase an alternate back up camera it seems. Is there a preferred unit for this as well.

any updated info will help us who are fence sitting.

Thanks in Advance.

Has anyone been able to add Sirius XM to this unit? For me this is kind of a big deal as I like my XM radio.
I have read the whole post but it seems that the only option is to add the web app which would probably consume a lot of bandwidth. Is there any decent way such as Bluetooth to add an external XM radio? I know that you could probably add something through the aux jack, but this does not allow control of the external source or the nifty song title\artist displays on the unit.

I don't know of anyone receiving a "newer" version of this since it was suspected they would start shipping with the "mods" already built in.

As of right now the BT connection has not been fixed, at least not for me. I haven't emailed Lim in a few weeks as I have heard they are working on it. Maybe I will shoot him an email and see if he provides an update. I really miss this feature from the 2.3.4

Again, don't have a newer unit so I have no idea what types of upgrades are built in now or are still being worked on.

As far as holding up...

Once everything was swtiched over to the 4.0 I have not had any problems. The USB MP3 music has been fine, sitting still the BT phone conversation is fine, but when driving I have been told I am hard to hear (road noise maybe?), iGO Nav, Radio, DVD, Apps, WiFi and Backup Camera have all withstood so far. Again, mine was installed at the end of November 13, originally a 2.3.4 system, lower end resolution and 4GB.

I am rather curious to see how the Florida heat may affect this along with the downpours with the Backup camera. I did not do anything to seal it, but so far no fogging and no water build up.

I'll let you know if I hear anything from Lim, I will shoot him an email next.

Wow!
Just by incident stumbled on this thread.
Read all the pages and filled out the form on Lim's internet page.
That means I'm also interested in buying.

Mine was originally a 4.0 system with the higher resolution and 8 gigs. Most of the system is working as expected. Sound is actually better than I expected. Seems to be built well and I don't see any issues there. Still no BT for OBD2 use yet. That is driving me nuts since the bluetooth adapter and OBD2 reader are just sitting in the glove box waiting. Bluetooth phone use seems to work well. It uses the mike on the phone but everyone has said it sounds as good as the bluetooth did on the factory system. I was using it with a Galaxy S3 if that makes any difference. I have just upgraded to the HTC One M8 but haven't made a phone call from the car so I can't say how it sounds.

I have the wires to hook the roof GPS antenna to the unit but haven't stayed home on a weekend to pull the unit out and hook it up yet. I will let you know how that goes as soon as I do.
