M6 Tranny Fluid Change
I searched the board for relevant threads and read up on the subject. Got the car up on jack stands, slid underneath and removed the fill plug. Everything going well so far. Get the drain pan in place and loosen the drain plug. Just before it's all the way out a little fluid starts to drip, normal. Then, I remove the plug completely and tranny fluid gushes out like Niagara Falls!!
I've got fluid all over my arm, in my hair and in my right eye! Withy one good eye to see out of I'm grabbing for the drain pan and adjusting the placement to catch the river of fluid running all over the garage floor!Once all is said and done I get everything cleaned up and add the new fluid. Shifts much smoother now. Just a heads up to anyone getting ready to do this, be prepared for the gush of fluid or maybe not remove the fill plug before draining.

Probably do mine this week. Which fluid did you go with, and how much did it hold?

If you decide to not remove the fill plug, at least make sure to crack it loose first. I had an Aisin KM-145 (junk) manual in my '87 Dodge Raider that I made the mistake of draining before trying to remove the fill plug, which never did break loose (enough to piss off the Pope, I tell ya) and I had to pump the new fluid in through the drain hole and quickly reinstall the drain plug. That is not fun.

Went with Redline ATF. It holds 4 quarts.

Just did my m6 yesterday. The gush happened, although it didn't get everywhere. I managed to maneuver the drain pan just in time. But still messy. I used Redline D4 in my tranny and definitely made a difference in shifting.
