In case you did not already know ....Z/28 vs GT-R

I had a smile on my face the entire time I watched this video. Wishing I was not working behind my desk but out in my Camaro!

Enjoy ...
2014 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 vs. 2014 Nissan GT-R Track Edition

Great video ..

Yep, the Z28 has beaten up the GTR, taken its lucnh money and shoved it into a locker.

The only thing is the GTR decimates it in everything other than the track and its so close it would be a drivers race. These two shouldn’t even be in the same category. The ZR1 is better for Chevy against the GTR or the new Z-06 coming out. Nothing against the Z/28 because I am a Chevy/Camaro guy.

They put it on a track where the Z/28 would have a chance against the GT-R and the Porsche. All 3 handle about the same...put them on a track where the Porsche and GT-R can use their extra power and they will start to walk away. The Porsche and GT-R just plain out power the Z/28 as evident on the 1/4 mile times.

Lol there's 5 GTR's before the Z/28 shows up. But I guess that the Camaro "beat" the GTR...

Yes it did in the magazine testing. It also did it in cold weather on a track that wasn't completely clean/dry from what I've heard/read.

Watched the vid - proved my point. Cold track and you can even see areas where the track wasn't even completely dried.

The Z/28 should do much better in warmer conditions/warmer track temps where it can take full advantage of the 60 tread wear tires. They are not designed to work well on a cold track.

In my most recent mag (I believe Car and Driver), they only got 12.7 @ 117 mph (I believe that was the trap speed). But again, the car was tested in cold weather on a cold track surface.
117 mph traps should be low 12s, high 11s on drag radials.

What that list doesn't tell you is wether or not the cars are modified. Modified cars are the only possible way some of those GT-Rs are were they are. Just look at the time differences between the GT-Rs themselves.

Seriously, You've got one in the number 4 spot with a 7:08.86
then one at number 36 with a 7:34.46. You think those cars are tuned the same??

Every single car that runs at the 'ring, unless it's done by an independent car magazine, like Autocar, is modified. That's why there is a huge discrepancy in times they put down compared to what the manufacturers claim.

That was the point I was trying to make. The "5" GT-Rs that are above the Z/28 on the list are most likely not stock.

That is why I really don't care about ring times. At least with know with magazine tests the cars are stock.

While not the best substitute, I care more about what Randy Probst can get out of cars on Laguna Seca.

The Z28 wasn't stock either. You gotta take all the times with the grain of salt.
