WTB: what do you got?

I've been "called out" by a local 2012 5.0L m6 - we have an annual "All Out Call Out" and he's picked me. I need to lighten up the car if i want this L99 to get off the line.

Does anyone have a Carbon Fiber hood for sale? things like this... chime in.
I've done all the bolt on adders.

thanks,

Ray

From different threads I seen. The carbon fiber hood wouldn't make that much difference since our hoods are not as heavy as u think.

You can reduce weight by
-lighter wheels
-the driver seat/passenger seat
- don't have that much fuel in your tank

Probably best to get some tires

Lighter wheels and rotors can net you 60+ lbs

Our hoods are aluminum so you wont save much if any by going carbon fiber there. Maybe trunk lid is something to look in to, not sure on weight savings there. Back seat delete also worth a look.

Remove weight
Take out back seat, passenger seat. Trunk crap. Run with half a tank or less. Get a smaller battery, and some drag radials. Are you tuned?

without a doubt Rod_SS - these Niche's will not be what I race in. I'm getting WELD RT-S 17". I haven't removed the stock hood, so I'm uncertain as to how much it weighs, but good to know it doesn't weigh a lot. I'll have 1/4" tank or less gas. I'm just trying to think of every possible option to rid of weight, but still daily drive it. Since I'm not putting much power down, i don't see myself going all out "drag" in this. but would be nice to put a "W" up for us Gen5'ers (esp - against the 5.0L)

Seems like a bolt on L99 should be pretty up there against a 5.0. Any idea on his driving ability? It would be much easier on your part with the auto, he has a high likely hood of messing up the launch or a shift.

i hope so Destructo09. the guy I'm racing... is a beast. he's the typa guy who bounces off the rev limiter, slides his foot to left of the clutch, drops the hammer! i can only hope he misses a gear. he's done every bolt on possible as well, but hasn't geared. I'm on 3.91 gears, high-flow cats, X pipe. even with my big Niche wheels, she scoots pretty nice! she's seen 130 no problem. @ST1LE - thanks man. anything to give us the "upper hand" in terms of bragging rights. there will be many there, so I'm sure there will be vids to follow. Yes, i'll strap on the "go-pro" facing backwards to see if he can "reel" me in!

Strip what you don't need on the car.

The backseat itself is ~15 lbs and takes no time to remove. The access door is another ~17 lbs, which unhooks from the bracket. Rear battery trunk lid is another ~5 lbs. If you want, you can also swap the battery which weighs in at 46 lbs for a 21 lb from Deka (ETX-30L). Each gallon of fuel is approximately ~6 lbs, I go 1/8th and carry a spare 5 gallon tank of gas. Also make sure you have good tires to hook, that ends up being a pretty big problem when you reduce weight..

What do you have rear gears? I would say look at changing them out so have a quicker launch.

@servax - yup - these are all great suggestions and easy to remove come race day. i plan to go with 1/8 tank gas. they have race fuel there onsite should I need a gallon or so. @rberns - I'm running 3.91 gears and this car scoots off the line very nice. we also changed the rear differential bushings to solid bushings, on order is lower control arms to clear the 17-10 Welds - rear tire will be 325/45 - 17"
