Clay bar makes exhaust tips look new!!

I had no idea this would work (forgive me if this is old news!). I was just claying my car and decided to try it and wow, worked unbelievably. Use a small piece, unlike me, and be ready to chuck that bad boy when you're done!

I use Adam's Polishes products so I can only guarantee the following results using their stuff. You can make your own assumptions/discoveries with your favorite brand/s.

Yeah I was really bummed at how they were looking (like crap). I thought for sure they were rusted or deteriorating somehow. So glad I tried it!

I wasn't alive when the invention of clay came about, But I can only imagine how earthshattering that was for body shops/detailers. The ability to pull contaminants out of the paint safety and have them not get all on your pads when buffing which could risk severe swirls.

And body shops being able to take better care of overspray...

Clay just has endless uses and makes life ten times easier.

Btw tips look great my friend!!!

Well that's one way to do it. You can correct exhaust tips without wasting clay though...

This response is only half helpful. If you could finish it by explaining how, then that'd be great. Haven't seen much about cleaning exhaust tips on here...

I find that hard to believe. I'm pretty sure I've answered it in at least a dozen threads.

However, to complete my helpfulness for you:

Start with APC and a utility cloth. If that doesn't work, use #0000 steel wool and APC to break up the baked on soot.

Finish with metal polish to restore shine when needed.

If you clean your tips with regular soap and water at each washing, you'll never have an issue. It's only those that neglect regular cleaning that have problems like this.

I can guarantee you that not one single person on this planet would ever consider even thinking I neglect my car, any inch of it. I don't wash my car and it super rarely sees rain, or any water. The only thing I can think of is detail spray residue and a crap ton of heat.

Now, this thread wasn't started (by myself) to start a *!#* measuring and/or a "I can do it better" contest (see thread title for verification!).
I made this thread because I thought it might be helpful, to anyone that may need it.

Coming in a thread that could not be more clearly titled and making negative remarks really makes you look like a "disposable feminine cleansing product (one might use on a summer's eve) and the bag it came in" (I can quote other peoples words to). I personally don't know anyone that keeps "APC", steel wool, or metal polish in their garage, let alone all 3!

In short; be helpful within the confines of the thread's title and don't be a quoted phrase above.

Oh! Thanks for your "helpfulness" even though it has nothing to do with the thread title!

Thanks for starting the thread. It's good to hear others' ideas and get different perspectives. You probably should refrain from calling names b/c that will just get you banned, but I understand. I just started visiting this section about a month ago and can't believe all the controversy. Hell, I stopped participating on the tuning/FI threads because all the bs and vendor worshipping (plus my tune from one was crap). If this section goes down hill, I am off C5.
