What would you do? Advice please

So this is my situation, and I'm hoping you guys can give me some insight if I should pull the trigger or not. I currently have an order placed with my local dealer since April that just doesnt seem like its gonna be moving anytime soon despite my dealer insisting it should get pulled any day now (been saying that for a good 2 months now).

Now looking around, yesterday I found an out of state dealer that has my EXACT car on their lot waiting to be sold. I called and confirmed all the options and everything is there that I want. so the problem is they want 3K over MSRP for the vehicle. Now after going back and forth for a while they are not budging at 2K over. Financially I could probably take the 2K hit, but it just feels so wrong paying over sticker for a vehicle especially at a time like this.

So those of you who already have the car, is the 2K worth it to get the car NOW as opposed to AT LEAST 8 weeks (if my order gets pulled for production tomorrow). Thoughts?

I guess if you're loaded and have the extra 2 thousand then go for it but as long as the dealer you ordered from has an allocation you won't be waiting too much longer. I would wait the 2 months and save 2 grand!!!!

I have the money to pay over sticker, and I wouldn't pay a penny over sticker for it. I don't care what kind of car it is, none of them are worth more than sticker. Next year they will hope you buy it at all.

I think you should find a dealer from some random little town around you who has an allocation available and get on their list. Some of them will have one available right now and you could get your car in september. All dealers who have a car to sell right off the lot will charge over MSRP.

to me paying over msrp is like shooting yourself in the foot. The car looses value over time anyway, so your just paying the 3 grand to be able to drive it a few months early. In the end its your money though. I say ban all dealers that charge over msrp

more info

Just to give a little more info, I stupidly sold my car a few months back so currently I'm not driving anything which is starting to get troublesome. i also have my birthday coming up and what a gift to myself that would be
Seriously tho, I am on the side of never paying over sticker, but with my exact car sitting there it is a little enticing. I'm just hoping, if I do buy the car, that i wont have any buyers remorse or feel I got ripped off.

Hoping this doesn't happen to you...but it could, I guess.

Someone my husband works with bought a Camaro at $5,000 over MSRP, because she could & just wanted it..... she took it to Florida for a vacation & someone rear ended her. Guess what? The insurance won't pay for what she has in it.

Not smart to pay over MSRP........ unless you get the insurance that protects you for that.

But it's your life & you gotta live it!

That's a good reason to have gap insurance.

My exact car was sitting at a dealership 5 miles from my house. They wanted 5k over MRSP. Instead, we went to Langs Chevy and ordered one at MRSP. I'll be damned if I'm going to pay 5k to have my car now instead of waiting 2 months.

Don't give the price gouging dealers a nickle over . If you have to find a dealer across the country that has one and take the few grand and make it at vacation bringing it home .

You know, it's really the consumers fault not the dealer that cars like this go over msrp.
If knowone would buy a car over msrp the dealers wouldn't sell them. So the next time you see one for 5 grand over and get pissed at the dealer, thank the dumb asses that are willing to pay it.

Don't pay over MSRP. Save the extra 2K for Mods.

So true man. Its because so many people have to be the first to have something they will screw it up for the rest of us by paying 5 to 10 thousand over sticker.

I have had my car for about 5 weeks now...I absolutely LOVE this car. It is the best! Extremely fun to drive and flawless! I ordered and bought for msrp. Despite that this is the most exciting and best car I've ever owned, there is NO WAY I would have paid anything over msrp. I don't need ANY car that bad. I would find a dealer that has an allocation for my order, then cancel the existing order. If you can get a dealer with allocation, you will have your car in 8-9 weeks. There is no way I would give the greedy so and so's an extra 2K clear profit to put in their pockets, even if I could afford to do it.

In fact, I can't believe I paid msrp?? I've bought many new cars in my life and never paid msrp for any of them. Wait til spring if you have to, they'll be plenty of them on the lots and you will probably be able to buy the same car for 1k-2k less than sticker.
