Did mine with engine running. It actually gays better coverage due to air flow. I sprayed let run for about 5 second then turned off and let soak for 5 min. Turn back on and went for a spirited ride.
The break booster doesn't really get passenger side cylinder 1&3 all that great.

Did mine at 60k. I have had a catch can on the car since day 1, 10miles. I put an IPF sc kit on at 45k and now have 68k.

So first question is for 2. Cleaning your Crankshaft. It says to pour half the can of seafoam in here. Just to confirm this is the same place where you would normally pour oil correct? |

Sorry I missed the first question. Yes pour 1/2 the can in the oil fill. Just make sure you are ready to change the oil. My opinion is don't bother with the crankshaft step. On direct injection cars is the intake manifold and valves that are the issue.

I was quoted $220 (1.5 hrs labor & parts) for a liquid cleaning, GM version of seafoam. If it was really bad and needed the IM opened up to do a hand cleaning it was estimated at 4 hr labor + parts & cleaning fluids.

Dealership "seafoam" service is recommended every 20k-25k miles. Save a boatload of money and do it yourself.

Thanks for the response guys. I tried to unplug the clamp today on the hose, but was having some difficulty. What is the easiest way /trick to get this accomplished? Are there pictures or video?

Open the top of the IM (which is straight foward) . Then grab a rag and MIST some Simple Green or Brake Cleaner on it and wipe any oil you see off with it. Then dry off the inside with a dry rag. Then gap the spray or liquid version of Seafoam and half the bottle evenly into each injector port. Seal the top back up (be careful and don't over tighten the bolts as they not supposed to be too tight) Let it sit for about 5-10min then started the car up. It may take 2 or 3 trys but it'll start. You may also get a CEL code which is normal also. Let the car run for maybe 1 or 2 min then drive it. I've done this so I'm not just making shit up. If you don't feel comfortable with this just do it the way I wrote it up in the first post. Good luck Sent from my Samsung Galaxy Note 3

Do you have any pictures or video of this? i seen a video where another v6 owner pulled the entire hose out like a plug instead of just the clamp. is this an acceptable way? |
