Oil Leak ...Again

A few weeks ago I had the oil cooler changed out due to a oil leak. Today I didy first oil change and noticed oil on the oil cooler again, oil was very clean looking, I wiped down the oil cooler and plan to keep an eye on it and see if I can determine where oil is coming from and take back to the dealer as the vehicle is still under warrenty. Any ideas where oil could be leaking from its a very minor leak but as we all know no motor should leak oil as some dealers have told other owners in other post. could it be the oil pan? My car is not a DD and is super clean on the bottom as it has never seen the rain or wet road so it should be easy to spot a oil leak.

If the car sits a bit, try blowing some flour in the under area; mysterious leaks leave a nice trail this way. If DD its not that useful obviously.

I know it sounds stupid but flour (leveling dust works better but what a mess) makes fluid 'track' and have found many leaks this way. Best of luck.

Your car has probably seen rain... and depending when you got it, snow too...

Now for the oil. I had an old jeep, and it had a bad oil leak, but for the life of me, I couldn't figure out where it was coming from. My auto teacher at the time, told me that I could "puff" a little flour on the whole area, and when the oil leaked, it would absorb and move away the flour in it's path. After letting it sit for awhile, you can see a perfect river of where the oil came from. I don't know if you want to get flour all over the place, but if so, give it a try.

It's leaking oil from the oil cooler gasket. Mine had to be changed, because it acts like a wick and weeps oil.

As for the flour, I was taught that trick also but used for another reason ...

These cars are notorious for leaks from 3 places.

a) The oil cooler/oil cooler lines/gaskets
b) The oil pan
c) The rear main seal

There are numerous threads on this.

+1

I had the rear main seal leak when the car was brand new. Dealer fixed it and no problems since then. **knock on wood** Have then check that out.
