At this point if something was gonna go wrong it would have already. I usually feel comfortable modding a car after it has 10,000 miles on it. But still, you have to be comfortable with it. So just wait until you are. Because there is no sense in modding a car if you're gonna have worries.

This... If something was going to happen to the motor it MOST LIKELY would of happened by now.

Damn I'm leaning towards a tune but really nervous.
If you do it once and you go to a reputable tuner (FSP-Shameless plug), headers will not cause any issues for you.

As far as the tune and the warranty, If you are THAT worried that something might break within your warranty window then DO NOT MOD. Modding is an assumed risk for all of us, we do it knowing that if something were to break, it is on us.

DO NOT MOD until you are ready to accept that responsibility...

Quick update.

It's alive!!! Got GPI's SS4 installed and running, hopefully tomorrow or Friday I'll be swapping out my 3200 single for my 3600 triple disc and then get everything dialed in, so far feels and sounds good.

I will update this.
As of now I haven't been hard on it, it's got some stumbling areas but I'm still running the old tune. Ryan set up the phaser and timing tables, as soon as I get them I'll load them and I'm sure things will come together. I've also still got the 3200 single disc in it, it may change when the tune is straightened out a bit but you can feel it pushing a little, the 36600 triple is going back in soon. The good news is with the little playing I have been doing it feels strong, definitely a different sound.

Hey fellas is it normal to have more exhaust heat build up after a cam and heads installed?
I have a really loud tap that I DIDN'T have before the install. I'm told it's the metal SLP uses to make thier headers.

tune leaner or richer? EGT goes up either way. Lean=heat. Rich=fuel popping down runner as it ignites in primary.

I thought I noticed a little more soot along the rear bumper maybe. The tapping gets pretty damn loud the warmer it gets almost obnoxious.

i have a 2014 2ss 1le in order. thanks for beeing there to answers our questions.
was thinking about getting the heads&cams done at the dealer. with the gm performance package,--it's in the gm performance catalog-- that they say/advertise, it will add up to 70hp?
i would like the ls3 to have some better guts than the base ls3 at 426..
what do you guys think should i got with it?
want some hp but always n/a.
Thanks for your time
Greg

How much HP are you looking for? I'd imagine if it's listed in the GM performance catalog at a 70hp gain, that would be crank HP. That would put you around 450-460whp, if what they state is true. That's a middle of the road cam when paired with heads. Depending on the price of the package, i'd imagine you could get a better deal, better parts, and more HP from a good shop. Just because they are a dealership doesn't mean they know what's best for your car, unless you have a great dealership like we have here in Arkansas, GPI.

Can you link us the setup you're considering?

Check with Ryan (rhino79). He will port one if you want, but he does the Rick Crawford mod to all of them. It's be shown to make 4+whp/4+tq through most of the powerband, on a LT car with no extra tuning needed. Those numbers increase, the more you air you flow, like adding a cam.

thanks for responding.
the kit that i'm talking about ,i found in the 2014gm/chevy performance parts catalog.
they call it ;ls3 power upgrade kit. #19301990
comes with fully assemble cnc ls7 heads &ls7 cam with all the hardware included.

the part saying that the job could be done at the dealer is,it's fully covered under warrenty by gm. it doesn't void anything since the work is done over there.

my mistake about 70hp .it's more like 40hp they advertise. to help it some more headers would be a good improvement too.

figuring more hp at the crank. i know it's hard to measure, since the ls3 is at 426 or 430 like in the vette.[c6]. i would of like for it to have 460+.

it will be a DD also. as i live in Montreal, canada. good speedshops or tuners are hard to find.. the other part i would love to do it myself.,but don't have the puller for the crank ..anyway everything can be bought... more rewarding too,if i do it myself..
