I little WD-40 might help just let is sit for 15 or 20 minutes. Looks like you took the top bushing nut off and then you also took the spring retaining nut off. You didn't need to take the second nut off and you will need a spring compressor to get it back on. You can get the small bolt style at AutoZone.

Good Luck.

Don't sweat it! You didn't break anything.

That piece siting on you tire is the old style spring isolator, you might want to upgrade that as if everything else isn't tighter than Hades it can induce front end popping noises.

Well 12hrs later I finished it. That was by far the worst DIY experience I have ever had. The only spring compressor I could get my hands on was way too big and that perch was very hard to get back in. I was stranded at home till my wife got home and gave me a ride to auto zone for the compressor. Needless to say, I'm on the couch lmao

You generally only remove the upper nut and leave the nut below the upper washer. Since you removed the upper nut as well as the nut that holds the upper bearing assembly the spring came loose; there is a good amount of energy in the stock length spring.... You'll need to rent a spring compressor to put it back together.

Please call, email or PM us anytime with questions. Good luck and be safe!!!

Kind regards,

Sorry, I didn't see this post until today, I was on a small vacation last Thursday/Friday. But yes, whoever you talked to should have told you to leave that second spring perch retaining nut installed when pushing down on the wheel. I had this same exact problem when I installed my own STB. I literally had to step on the inside of the wheel, lift myself up off the ground (holding on to the fender), and bounce on it until it finally popped out!!! It was a pain in the butt!!! I never thought of using WD-40 as mentioned above, but seems like a reasonable suggestion!!!

No worries! I just installed my BMR lowering springs today and that went really smooth!
