They're fixing the car so I'm unsure of all the drama here. I totally get the frustration of mistakes happening, but you have to give them the chance to make it right. You're getting off pretty easy considering some of the real horror stories about dealers I've read about here.

This is one time you probably wish you had that OnStar app.

A tough lesson learned, but always keep YOUR keys with you, and when bringing in for service, give them the spare key. I do that, and thankfully, never have had to resort to using it. Don't rely on your dealer (or any other service provider) to be prepared for you. That's your responsibility.
No, this is not the first time that I have dealt with the dealer's service department. This was the fifth time. The first three times were for a rattle coming from the passengers seat and the fourth time was my first oil change.

Drama? It's not drama man, it is me expressing frustration that damage was done to my car and the dealer tried to slip it by me. As I stated before, I chalked this up as an acceptable mistake up until the point that there was obvious damage to the vehicle. I don't care how minor the damage is. To me the actions of the service department display a complete lack of integrity.

I will check and see if I have the anti-lockout feature available via the radio.
All trim levels come with this. Hit Config -> Vehicle Options -> Power Door Locks. And find the door lock out option and make sure it is turned on.

This option prevents the car from being locked if a door is still open. So the only ways to lock the doors would be either 1) be inside the car and lock the doors while you're still inside it or 2) outside the car with the remote.

oh I completely agree they mishandled the situation, given a slimjim was used they should have stepped right up with "we will replace the weather stripping ASAP"

all GM vehicles have it (at least everyone I have driven since 1999) however I do not believe the anti-lockout is active by default, I believe you have to enable it.

I know on my vehicle it is not enabled, as I prefer to use the delayed locking feature and you can't have both enabled at the same time..

I completely understand and would be upset too.
Okay they made a mistake but own it, be up front about it.

Does anyone else not find it strange that for his trouble and damage to the car...they only have 1/2 off the oil change?!
From a customer service/satisfaction standpoint I would think they'd be bending over backward trying to make you happy...and a FREE oil change would go further at making me happy than 1/2 off.

The thing is if you wouldnt have seen this right away, it would have been too late; they could say anyone could have done the damage..

One of the first thing you learn when working in a garage is to open the window to prevent this (except vert). You should tell your service department lol
