Can someone tell me which controller works with our Chevy Bus System?

You have to program the Metra to either type 4 or type 6? Cant remember which, but it's easy enough. Press and hold volume down for 30 seconds, then volume up 4 times, and volume down once to end. Now start the joycon app on your carpc, and press buttons, watching to see that each button moves the slider to a different position.

If all button presses do the same thing, try from beginning with 6 volume up clicks to select type 6, and test the joycon again.

Check in this afternoon to see your progress.

I had built my first carpc using the same case as they used with the E3IO, (Derrick in NY's Case) which I had in my 1LT. I used the Joycon EXR and the full Metra kit with Onstar retention. After programming, I was able to use volume up/down, source select, and next/previous track.

I use the Driveline front end, but there may be different button features if you use Centrafuse or Ride Runner front ends.

Here is a pic of that system:

First of all, I won't lie, it's a pain in the neck to program the Joycon, because the program is not easy to understand. I had to watch many videos, and see a little here and a little there until I could figure it out.

I just went out and reprogrammed mine, and I told you wrong, it is a type 7 radio for the Joycon EXR.

When I programmed the Metra to type 7 radio, I could see different resistance positions on the Joycon Slider Bar for each button press. When you have the wrong radio type, all button presses will go to the same resistance setting, so you will have to re-program the Metra box to the correct radio type. I tried 4, 6, then 7, and type 7 worked.

Opened the Joycon Explorer program, on the uppermost tabs, select the Preset Edit tab, then under that select the Buttons tab, and under that row of tabs, is the channel A B C/D LED tabs. Choose the A tab if your steering wheel buttons are connected to the A channel.

Next check the settings checkbox at the bottom, and that will bring up the auto detect button box. Press auto detect once, and a voice will ask you to press each steering wheel button one at a time. When you press a steering wheel button, you should see a red mark slide across the screen to your right, and that will be called A1. The next button will be A2, etc. If you accidently press the same button twice, you have to press auto detect to stop the auto detect sequence, then press clear, then re-run auto detect. You will probably only map volume up/down, next track/previous track, and Source, so you will have A1 through A5 programmed.

Once all 5 buttons are programmed, hit save/apply, and now you have to assign keyboard functions to A1 through A5.

These videos should help too:

Hey rray

Thank you for your description. The programming would not be my problem, it's the connecting till i can see it in my Joycon Explorer.

Does i have to connect the Joycon Adapter directly to my Metra Kit? Not to the Camaro Bus System? Which wire color does i have to take?

Best Regardas

Matthias

There should be a 3.5mm jack with brown brown/white wire. That jack connects to the Joycon channel A. Polarity does not matter.

There should be a 3.5mm plug on the Metra black box, and that just gets plugged into the jack you connect to channel A Joycon.

I am assuming you have the Metra 99-3010S and not the Metra 99-3010S-LC which does not have all the same wiring.

If you only have the Metra 99-3010S-LC, maybe you can tap in at the steering wheel connector. This is the only diagram I could find with the steering wheel buttons:

Thank you very much, I'll check this and let you know if it works.

You took a Joycon EXR, i have a Joycon EX. This should make no difference?!?

No real difference. I used the Joycon EX on my first camaro carpc, and it operates the same.
