Camaro LFX6spd vs 2005 Charger R/t auto

1/4 mile what do you guys think? He has a "chip" intake and after market mufflers. its not a daytona model. lets presume the 6spd LFX has a good driver, full basic bolt ons(intake/ported tb/hfc/corsa catback, and a set of 3.91 gears) as well as wider lighter wheels 18x9 in front and 18x10 out back and lastly a mgw short shifter

2005 Chargers were low 14s cars (maybe high 13 with good conditions/driver). My guess is a full bolt-on 1LS with an equal driver would have an advantage over a 2005 charger with an intake/exhaust.

alright thats what i was kinda thinking gretchen. And what about same wheel and tire set up, ported throttle body short shifter, ipf supercharger, and corsa cat back?

I would think a IPF Supercharged LFX vs a bolt on 2005 Charger would be no contest, especially with the 3.91 gears.

gretchen alot of people have mentioned that the 3.91 in an ipf v6 would be too much what do you think? it'd also be a daily driver. My other friend just got a 2013 r/t challenger auto still think the ipf v6 can take the chally?

I would think the 3.91 would be way too much on a turbo car, but waver back and forth for a manual. As for the 2013 R/T, I think you should have a slight advantage if it is stock, but once the modding starts then you will have some trouble. Again, this assumes good drivers for both. I've seen the 2011-2013 R/Ts run high 14s down to mid 13s (I assume they were stock). I know some guys are getting them in the mid 12s with just bolt ons. Now that they seem to have some good tuning options I wouldn't be surprised if we don't start seeing some very low 12s and even high 11s out of them. That's hard to match just an IPF supercharger. If you pulley it then I think you might be able to hit low 12s, but no one has done it yet. Watch out for the new R/Ts, it looks like they are going to be fast.

yeah i know anything more than basic bolt ons or even a few of then id probably be in trouble with the challenger r/t. Would the 3.91 gears be too much on a supercharged 6? I'm thinking 3.73 would be a slightly better match however those 3.91's with a warranty sound sweet!

I tend to think 3.91 is too much, but others disagree. I think you would be shifting right after you launch. If you can launch in 2nd and not bog it then they would be good. I think 3.55 would be the best gear for the manual and 3.73 for the auto.

All those bolt ons, and gears versus the 2005 Charger with intake and exhaust should be a nice race...with a possible advantage to the V6...maybe not. The V6, driven correctly could be a mid 13 second car, but of course thats if things go right. More likely would even up being high-mid, or high 13s.

The 2005 Charger versus an IPF V6 should be an easy win for the V6.

IPF versus a stock 2013 Charger R/T, I still say the IPF could pull off the win. But once the Charger starts to mod and tune it could be game over. IPF SC cars are typically anywhere from high 12s to mid 13s.

I'm in the camp that feels 3.91s are too steep.

I wouldn't launch in 2nd gear unless you don't like your clutch.

3:90's are a awesome gear for 1/4 mile runs. not too sure how much they'll help you on autocross days though.

especially in that long straightaway at NOLA.

The manual has a 4.43 first gear. He will be shifting right after he launches even if he doesn't sit and spin.
