Well, It's almost that time.

I'm currently home on R&R from good old Baghdad Iraq. I've been shopping around the local dealerships here in Fayetteville NC. We have two in the local area. One of them is doing the "Market Value" mark up. They had a Black 2SS/RS on the lot for 40k after the dealers's aftermarket add ons, and a couple of V6s on the lot with a 4k market value mark up. They also told me that I could order one with a 3k mark up....well they can forget it.

The other dealership here in Fayetteville said that they are doing MSRP deals. So, I'm about to do a little more research with the dealership and place my order if everything else seems ok. The sales guy that I talked to knew a little about the camaros, but he wasn't totally up to speed. He was trying to lead me to belive that I could order a 1SS with leather seats (dummy). He also had no idea what their allocation was, saying that GM was letting them order as many as they want.

Anyway, I'm going to head to Raleigh on Tuesday and meet with my father-in-law's corvette club, they are sponsored by the local Raleigh GM dealers. I'm going to look for a little more input from them. I also want to talk to the manager down here in Fayetteville and ask him about his allocations, and how many orders are ahead of me.

The only way I'll order right now is if they give me a MSRP deal, in writing. They also have to promise no aftermarket dealer crap. I'm no so sure about the allocations, if my dealer has a couple of people in front of me and no allocations yet, I may still order, as I will not be available to take delivery of the car until I re-deploy in late November, so if the car gets delivered before I re-deploy, I'm going to get them to make it their showroom model.

Is there anything else I should be looking for from my dealer?

Below is the picture of the V6 that I rented from Avis on R&R. Loved it, had a great time in it...wished it was a V8.

Ordered a 2SS/RS Silver Ice Metallic, Grey interior, 6 speed manual transmition today.

MSRP deal, 500$ deposit from Power-Swain Chevrolet in Fayetteville, NC.

The dealer says that he has about 25 Camaros on order right now, and gets about 5 in a month. This is alright with me as I'm going to be deployed until late November anyway.

I plan on putting aftermarket stripes on my baby. Hockey stripes with the SS underneath and the hood cowl stripes with "Camaro" on the inside.
