Hey Travis, do you work with a guy named Gary Hanh? Not sure if that's how it's spelled, but just wondering if you worked in the same base/building.

That sounds pretty damn tempting. My car is pretty must stock tho and hardly set up for the track.

So, the service rep, Guy Page, called me to make sure the car was running good and if there were any issues. I told him about the concerns I had about other parts being damaged. He said from the way it sounded, he was hoping I was getting a new engine (that would have been sweeeet), but once they started taking it apart they found the problem pretty quick.

They did not take the heads off or anything, but inspected what they could with the valve covers off. I was still concerned, but he assured that they valve was not damaged. He made a point when he said that if the valve had fallen in and made contact with the piston, the valve would have easily been messed up and there would have been no compression. Makes sense to me, and the engine is purring like new again, especially after the oil change I just did with some AMSOIL.

Doesn't sound familiar. I work at North Island with NCIS.

Not pulling the head is concerning. They took the path of least resistance. A compression test may or may not tell you anything of value and you can't inspect a valve for damage from the top of the head. Find someone with a bore scope and pull the plug to inspect that cylinder. Be sure. Don't trust that statement from the dealer.

If you need a bore scope I can get one so you can inspect the top of the piston and the bottom of the head.. Just let me know when you want to do it.

Hi guys, can anyone recommend a shop for installing the Angel-Eye headlight? I bought a pair and need a shop to install them. Also if you can, recommend a good place for window tinting too, thank you.

I had mine done at San Diego Tint down in Sorrento Valley last year.

I forget the back tint but the doors are 35ish what they call 50-50 tint, the odds of getting a ticket lol.
they are not the cheapest but its 3M, lifetime warranty and they use a trimmer at the glass edge so there is no tint gap visible.
I went back a couple months later because of a piece of lint in the drivers window and they replaced it no problem.
I would call for an appointment because they are usually booked up, lots of pricey cars as customers.
they work on cars too so might ask if they will do your headlights.

How about a place that instal the angel-eye halo headlight? I'm trying to find a shop that don't just hype up the price because of new customer.

Need help

Looking for a v6 factory air intake for a smog check. If anyone has one I can borrow that would be cool. Will return it as soon as the smog is done. 691-318-2267 let me know.

What the hell do you need a V6 intake for?

I guarantee you will have fun, even with a stock setup. I always tell anyone interested in doing a track day to keep their checkbook in their pocket until they've run a few days. When you're starting out, your ability will be the limitation 95% of the time. I've been doing track days for 6 years and I've only reduced the percentage to about 80%, if that.

Sonoma is my favorite track, but it is very expensive. Buttonwillow and Laguna aren't as bad cost-wise, but challenging for inexperienced drivers. We're hitting Fontana in Nov. and Streets in Dec. Not only are they much closer to home and less expensive, they are good "starter" tracks.

You're welcome to join us anytime. We're more than happy to offer any help or advice.
