Headers and Cat-Back....Which ones??

I'm now looking to purchase headers and a cat-back for my ZL1. I know there are about 4-5 different brands that I've seen on here. I'm leaning towards Kooks or Stainless Works. I'm sure there's not a big difference between the headers when it comes to HP gain & flow, but I could be wrong. When it comes to a cat-back, I'm not concerned with noise level. The louder the better...bring on the resonating and drone...I want to be heard! Haha So what combos are everyone running on their cars? What sounds the best? Let me know your thoughts...sound clips welcome!

Thanks

There are a lot of different header set ups being run here and everyone seems to be happy with their respective choice (as far as I can tell). Everything from ARH, Stainless Works and Kooks. PFADT Tri-y headers were very popular until they unfortunately shut down. I have also heard decent things about Stainless Power (a cheaper brand of Stainless Works) although the workmanship man not be as good. Have you decided what size primaries you want? As far as a cat-back system I am not as sure about that. The Corsa cat-backs look awesome with the black tips and sound good from the clips I have heard. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will chime in here shortly.

If you are looking for a full Headers to tips system, the Stainless works Retro would be my choice. We have this system installed on our JDP Camaro and it sounds killer. Anyone who was at the Camaro5 Fest this past weekend would agree!

Feel free to call, PM or email me anytime with questions.

my advice would be kooks, arh, stainless works

on the catback side you might try stock to start is does not sound bad with headers. if not look at corsa, borla, stainless works.

I am going to start with ARH headers and then if I do the catback It will most likely be the stainless works.

From what I see, it doesn't work with a convertible, which is what I have. I do like the set-up though...really cool.

Tyler, I was planning on calling you about this. I'm Justin that ordered the full Roto-Fab set-up last week from you. You were supposed to send me a sound clip...remember? Lol

I've always liked the Kooks...I've had a couple sets before on other cars in the past, but I've also heard a lot of positive feedback on Stainless Works as well. Far as the cat-back, I'm leaning towards the Stainless Works retro chambered system. I'm sure I wouldn't be disappointed with either one. Decisions...Decisions!

Hey sorry about that. Last week was was CRAZY getting everything ready for the Camaro5 fest. Hopefully we can get something put together within the next few days. For now, here is the video from Stainless Works. Nothing will do it justice like hearing it in person though..

Also here is a cell phone vid of Jordan's "Victory lap" at the Camaro5fest

So, that video was SW headers w/retro chambered cat-back? With or w/o cats?

I just bought and installed Kooks long tube with high flow cats from Tyler at JDP. They sound great and I also have no weeds. If you want loud this is the setup..

The No Weeds set-up looks really cool. I would love to have it, but I have a convertible and they all say on the site "not convertible." Maybe I should give them a call and see if they have a set up yet and it's just not on the site.

Yes, both videos are with cats. Going without cats will make it quite a bit louder, but will also introduce rasp.
