I live in Northern Indiana. Don't do what I did and try to drive in stock tires. I didn't get into an accident (or come close), but it was a nightmare every single day for 3 1/2 months.
Of course this past winter was probably the worst winter in ~30 years for the area. But I'm buying snow tires in a couple of months. A few sandbags in the trunk were also extremely useful

Lose the summer only tires for sure. They turn to stone below 30 degrees. I've been driving rear wheel drive cars in mid-west winters for over 30 years with only all season radials.

Ok wouldn't our cars break loose pretty easy given the lack of weight over the rear wheels in the snow/ice?
I have fun just in the rain out here in coastal California. Given the damage potential in snow/ice and salt, isn't it better just to garage it for the winter?

I just took my car out of storage! I wasn't expecting a winter thread so soon! Lol
With that said, cover it, store it and get a beater. It's like getting a new Camaro every spring! Enjoy!

Option 1: $1,800 set of dedicated snow tires/wheels.
Option 2: $3,000 winter beater you don't love and keep your Camaro safe at home in garage. I also live in a shit hole climate. I chose Option 2!

Yeah, I chose an opton not on your list. I got a cheap set of the factory steelies (which I happen to like) for $150 on Ebay and a set of Blizzaks for about $500.

The Camaro does so well I never even felt the need to put any weight in the trunk. Tires make a huge difference and traction control doesn't hurt. Of course the Camaro isn't exactly light in the rear end either so there is plenty of downforce. |

1. Don't worry about it - it's almost summertime now!
2. Get cheap beater car - don't drive Camaro in snow. |

I'm in the same boat. In Montana, I'm a little worried about the winter because of the clearance. I'll get the snow tires, remove the splitter and see how the first winter treats me. I may invest in something NEXT winter, but it's not in the cards this year. I have work friends who don't mind me carpooling with them if the snow gets too bad. I'll just give them some gas money or buy lunch
