When I was buying mines in 2012 the dealership had the silver one they used to drive for sale, It was on display at the season premiere before they got the 14 ss. I was gonna buy it until i noticed rubber chunks in the wheel well!! I guess they had some fun with that!

Hey Guys,
Haven't been on the board for a long time. Decided to pop in and see if anythings going on. Had a question for the Autocross guys who participate at the Aloha Stadium event. Ive read that the 5th gen doesn't do that well at the event. Is it due to the weight of the car or is it the suspension? How does the new Z28 compare to the competitors at the event? One of these days I gotta get my butt out to the event.

If the main purpose is to get to know the limits of your car and have fun, don't worry about anything else. Seen a lot of cars come for a couple events and don't come back. It might be heavily modified, but need to realize Auto-X has optimal handling cars/mods for each class. The course designers try to mix up technical portions and balance with short straights for some equalization. Main goal is to keep speeds below 60mph and safe for Aloha Stadium, driver, and spectators.

That out of the way, no, the stock SS is not as competitive and optimal car for various classes. Best mod you can make to a car is running smaller wheels with race slicks(Hoosier A6). The competition tires will break you out of stock classes, but that is the single best handling mod you can make besides driver skill.

The Z-28 is a purpose built car, but is still built on the SS unibody. It is good for what GM intended, but expectations are relative. If the sole purpose of coming out is winning class, driver skill and picking the optimal car for the class is needed. We see a lot of one-timers that may get disappointed by the car's performance. Need to check your pride at the gate, learn, and have fun.

My car's mod, FI, suspension, and tires, places it in Super Sport class. I race with GTR, EVOs, STIs, GTO, Mustangs, M3s, etc that have similar modifications. I usually finish in the middle of the pack, but got real lucky this year and finished 3rd behind GTR(1st) & Z-Madness' Evo10(2nd). Z's Evo can be very competitive against the modded GTR.

Worst thing you can do for Auto-X with a big heavy car is boost or heavy engine work. Won't help with handling and it'll break you out of various "stock"/lightly modded classes that are more competitive for the 5th gen.

Season finished in April and will start back up in July. There's a test & tune event in July 27. Shoot me an email and can check if fun run(ride alongs) are permitted. Or, register a car and just have fun. I'd like to stay all day on the 27th, but need to make an excuse since it's the wife's B-day...

Taz,

Email me and I'll let you know about the Test & Tune event. As for mods, I know ride comfort is key for you and you won't want to be swapping out race tires for every event to be more competitive. The Z-28 is appealing, but no insulation, stripped down with stereo and AC as the main options...

I'd rather get a ZL-1 with the Z-28 options that GM just announced will be available on all Camaro models. Or 1LE and stay normally aspirated, but keep the creature comforts. Too bad I hate the rear tail lights of the 2014.

And, a used set of rear LCA w/BMR endlink brace that was drilled out to 12mm for Pedders swaybar.

Asking $200 OBO for these: (everything)
(1) Pedders Rear Swaybar, bushing, bracket (27mm)
(1) Pedders Rear Swaybar, bushing, bracket (32mm)
(1 pair) Pedders 1st gen(old style) Rear Swaybar Endlink (12mm stud on both ends)
(1 pair) GM rear LCA(lower control arm) w/BMR reinforcement bracket for endlink (LCA endlink hole drilled to 12mm to fit Pedders endlinks)
http://www.peddersusa.com/products?c...-0#flag=change
Pedders USA is involuntary Bankruptcy. Don't know when Main Pedders Australia will open/select another US Distributor.

Asking $25: SOLD
(1) BMR reinforcement bracket for 2010-2011(some 2012) endlink hole(not drilled, 10mm hole) (http://www.bmrsuspension.com/?page=p...&productid=987)

Started with the Pedders SwaybarB package(27mm/27mm). Upgraded to the Pedders rear 32mm solid bar. Upgraded endlinks. Moved to the ZL-1/LE style rear swaybar so old Pedders rear bar and lower control arm removed.

The parts are now taking up too much space and must go. Keeping my Pedder 27mm solid front swaybar and using Pfadt ZL-Spec rear bar w/2012-14 newer style GM rear LCA. Too bad Pfadt is gone, too.
