![]() It is not the price of the transport in my situation, it's the freaking delay to find a GD truck! Hell, Id' pay good money for a hotshot at this point. All the trucks are full apparently...ugh

Now that I'm home from the delivery drive, I wanted to share some goodies I found in my car. I'd messaged a couple of people to see if there was any way to get the build team to sign the inside of my trunk lid. Apparently GM QC frowns on that sort of thing. In lieu of that, I got a very special treat (see below). A massive THANKS and kudos to Team Camaro. Your pride and dedication to building the best was apparent from the moment the car rolled off the transporter. The crowd around my car at delivery, along with the constant thumbs-up I get whenever I drive it, are testament to the fact that people have been waiting for this car for a LONG time. In my case, about 38 years! The poster is going to the framer's tomorrow and will sit above the workbench in my garage, right next to it's silver brother...

For sure! I know how frustrating it when we're waiting for our cars, but it's all worth it in the end. The car is a beast, and was designed, engineered, and built by people who really have the Car Jones, and bad. You feel that whenever you're around the car...
In the end, Mike, it will be worth the wait!

...I hope none of you guys take this wrong....but....this break-in business always bugged the heck out of me......I always believed the worst thing to do is keep the rpms low, as well as hold at a consistent speed for an extended period of time was not advisable....
...I know what the manuals say, but have heard that actually the opposite is the best way to break in an engine....that is, slam that thing hard asap, seat those rings....(you only get one shot at it!!)...change the oil after a few hundred miles and a hard break-in.... ....You guys got enough on your mind as is, and hopefully I'm all wrong about this sort of thing (won't be the first time...lol)....but good luck to all of you....I hope none are disappointed at all with the engines performance and durability from day one.... Sorry for digressing....just after seeing brt3 gonna do a long, interstate type drive...well, I hope all is well... |

I never understood the removal of the sound and temp insulation on the 2 generations of Z06s. One of the most annoying things on a long trip is noise. If I had a Z/28 I would add it back. Even if it was 30-50 lbs extra.

My vette buddy laughed at me for doing the break in soft miles...he says only a few hundred should do it. I love this car and have enjoyed all the miles.

Though I appreciate what you're saying, I've never met an engineer who agrees with the "drive it like you stole it" school. I will breaking it in as specified, and the Service Manager at Abel Chevrolet -- who races a Z06 -- schooled me on how important a careful break-in procedure is. Being careful about the break-in period may or may not make a difference -- but in my case I've never owned a car with oil consumption issues, or any sort of engine problems or failure. Until proven otherwise, I'm going to stick with what works for me. As always, your mileage may vary...

I usually run at Laguna Seca in the open passing group(advanced) but I have not tracked my ZL1 yet.
