So I was unscrewing the bottom assembly to check on how much oil had been caught and ultimately empty my catch can. When I pulled out the bottom portion, it was accompanied by more than what I was expecting. I am guessing this is the filter that came out but this is about the 3rd time I have opened it up to check the level and this part has never come out before. Is this a bigger problem or did something just get loose?

That is the filtration chamber. You just need to screw it back into the upper portion of the can good and tight.

Had same happen. After screwing the condensing chamber in tightly, has not recurred.
