Hello everyone. I've recently been looking into getting some aftermarket headers installed on my 1LE with npp exhaust. I've heard great things about the kooks 1-7/8 long tube headers, but the price definitely scares me off a bit. (not wealthy by any means) I can definitely wait awhile to get the money, but I'm quite impatient. I also have other options which include the pypes headers. I've come across some brand new unused pypes hdr150s long tube headers locally on craigslist for a tempting $300. My question is, should I wait and save up the money for the kooks, or will I be satisfied with the "easy-on-the-wallet" pypes headers? Obviously Kooks stands behind their products and from the looks of it they look of better quality than the pypes. There are plenty of videos on youtube of the kooks headers, and they all sound amazing.. Unfortunately for me, I don't see any pypes header videos. That makes me a little uneasy considering NO ONE has these headers. Performance wise will I get the same out of the pypes as I would from the kooks? If so, which headers are ultimately worth it? Any help/advice is appreciated! THANKS!

My tuner told me that horsepower gains with 1-3/4" headers were very modest. I took his recommendation and added American Racing 1-7/8" headers, high flow cats, and x-pipe (I've got NPP also). The before/after Dyno showed just 22 HP with those additions.
If you're looking for HP, I'd wait and get a set of 1-7/8". For the sound, 1-3/4" should be fine.

So I've come across a good deal IMO. Used for 4k miles kooks 1 7/8'' LT headers for $600, and a pair of kooks cat deletes for $80. Both are local on craigslist. I'm going to pick them up in the few days. I'll post finished results!
