Track Day at VIR

Track Day at VIR
Thanks to the Triad Area Chevy Dealers I got invited to a track day at VIR. Unfortunately I wasn't able to take my car because it only has 500 miles on it. So I took my moms 2013 2LS and WOW what a blast it is to run your car on a race track. This was my first time ever driving any car on a race track. I thought drag strips were fun. Driving on a race track doesn't even come close to running your car on a drag strip. Its amazing the handling that comes with the v6s Camaros. The car definitely did a lot better than I had expected. We ran on the south part of the track, which was about 1.65miles. By the end of the day when I was really comfortable with the track I was able to get the car up to 110mph on the straight and average about 50-60mph on the entire track. Having the instructors in the passenger seat was definitely a lot of help for me. I also got to ride in the passenger seat of a CTS-V coupe, 2014 1LE, and one of the instructors took me for a ride in his corvette. Let me tell you I probably had the most fun in the 1LE because that car is a animal on the track. Good Job GM for making one fun track car. My car club will be heading back to VIR n July 24th and I Cant Wait!!!! Hopefully by then I will have the 1LE Track pack on my 2014 2LT/RS. I have been iffy about getting the 1LE package for my car, but riding in that 1LE just sold me completely. Now I understand I won't have the same Tires and Rims as the 1LE but the handling upgrade alone will definitely be a nice touch. Unfortunately I don't have many pictures but here are a few I was able to get.

Here is a picture of what the rims looked like after the day ended. As you can tell I didn't baby the car lol. Quite a bit of brake dust.

Here is a plaque that was given to us as a gift.

Once again thanks to the Triad Area Chevy Dealers (Vann York especially) for a once in a lifetime experience that I will never forget. What a day it was. My body was definitely tired by the end of the day. Never knew how much of a beating your body takes on a track.

Awesome man!

I just had my first real track day at the Fontana Speedway last month. It was a blast.

Our V6's are not bad on the track.

I'm in the middle of doing a SS Brembo upgrade right now. I'm thinking about the 1LE track pack as well.

Let me know if you go with that and how it feels on the road & track.

Thx

I definitely will. I've considered doing the SS Brembo upgrade, but I travel quite a bit with the car and I don't want to lose my spare tire.

No they were not. I just took that picture to show how much brake dust had accumulated on the rims. Just thought it was interesting, it also shows I didn't baby the car.
