I dont care if it has 400 hp.
A V8 is a V8. END OF STORY. The torque, the feeling, the sound, its all part of the experience, I dont want to spend my life wishing that I SHOULD have done something else, so I will get the V8. I love 3.6 DI, but its just not the engine for me in this type of car. |

I have always been slanted towards the V6. I told myself that depending on the milage of the V8 i might consider it. The price difference should not be severe enough to make that the determining factor. I dont consider myself an enthusiast, but rather a fan of the car. I have never even owned a car, i have always had 4x4 trucks. But now ive gotten tired of computing the MPG and coming away with 12.9 all the way up to a whopping 17. MPG is a big consideration. This DI 3.6 though seems to be delivering the power and the MPG. I dont need more than 300 HP. Really who does? (only for taking to the track...but for everyday driving?) I know it is fun to do the sprint on the on ramp of the highway but 300HP should be able to put you at least a little bit in the back of your seat. This engine seems amazing and will probably be more than any normal person needs. Anyway this is going to be my more sensible/everyday car as when i return to the states as i will have an M Roadster that is in the family as a toy.
I still may look at the V8 if the mileage is good... but really there isnt a need...This V6 DI is an amazing engine!!

I will most likely get the v6 if it has at least 300 horses, since I am young and won't be able to afford/wait to save more for the v8. Eventually I will upgrade to a v8, though.
EDIT-assuming it is DI also |

Now for a quote from OctaneZ28 (founder and member of 5thgen.org, he is also a member here), someone who has actually seen and driven the V6 Camaro.

I'd just like to say that even the 210 horsepower in my 86 camaro was enough to not only push me a little into my seat, but really push hard -- and that was starting in second gear, due to a bum transmission. Really, I'm looking for the v6 for my "for fun" driving because of the near-perfect balance I was reading about and that very flat torque curve (I loved my IROC because I could take twisties fast and the car pulled no matter where I was in the rpm range) -- where I live there are a lot of curvy country roads -- very fun to take, even at only 5 over the speed limit. And if the V6 sounds as good in the camaro as it did in the CTS video I found on youtube, I know its going to have a muscle car rumble (at least to me, if a bit higher than a v8) -- especially with some higher flowing mufflers. But I'm also a bit younger than many of the prospective buyers out there, and never really lived through the muscle car generation. To me, as long as it sounds loud, menacing, fairly low in pitch (at idle, not necessarily at full throttle), and doesn't have the farting (BWARP BWARP!) sound of a lot of the ricers that I see my classmates driving around campus in, it has a muscular sound.
- Xanthos P.S. -- it also seems to me that, and pardon the semi-heretic nature of these comments, the V6 will be the muscular engine of future cars as the four-banger becomes more and more popular due to fuel standards and rising gas prices. I just hope that GM performance parts has a set of headers available at release or very soon afterwards. Torque is always good.

I'm going for V6. And it's all about the price...
(warning: long read and a lot of numbers) Quote:
Image living in a country where I live. You buy a V6 for, let's say, 22-23k$. Plus 1,5k$ freight (over the ocean). Let's say 23,5k$. Customs 10% = 2,4k$. Current total : 26k$. VAT 20% (from last total) = 5,2k$. Current total: 31k$. Extra tax for imported cars in Poland 13,5% (engine over 2L) = 4k$. Current total: 35k$. And ~800$ for lights change (to comply with european laws). So, without even adding up the registration and diagnostics costs, my V6 Camaro will cost me at least 36k$ -- assuming that I'll buy it in the US for 22k$. Living in Europe can sometimes suck. Do you know gas in Europe costs now over 2$ per litre (7,5$ / gallon)? Thus even if V6 Camaro is less "true" and "muscle" than V8, i'm in. Not everyone lives in such car paradise like USA. I don't even want to do above calculations for 28k$-worth V8. |

While there have been plenty of times I wish I had actually gone through with the trade-in I was looking at quite a few years ago and bumped up to the Z28, I have always been happy with my car as is.
I am more than likely gonna go for the V6 when I get my new one though, gas has a little bit to do with it, but that isn't the only reason. I may change my mind when the car is out, but that also depends on the price of the car which is another factor.

About the lights, car in Europe has to have:
- orange (could be yellow or white, cannot be red) turn signals -- both rear and side/front - standing (or "waiting" -- damn, I don't know english name) lights has to be white, just like main lights (but a lot weaker) - one anti-fog light (usually done by modding one of reverse lights) - front/main lights have to be pointing lower, right one should point a bit to the right (to light the side of the road a bit) Kuwait: yeah, I know, I didn't mention countries where everyone is practically born rich But by US being car paradise I meant history and being place of birth of the best cars ever

Nope, he described white lights less intense than headlights. What we call "parking" lights, they call "city" lights. Depending on when they're supposed to be on, I'd guess he might have been describing what we call Daytime Running Lights.
