From the little bit of research I did, you may have to drop the gad tank to get the canister vent solenoid out, but on 2011+ it was redesigned and can be squeezed out with everything else in place.

I'm not certain of this, but I THINK that emissions related equipmnet is warranteed for extended periods of time in certain STATES. I think CA is one of those states, but NC, or any other state, may not be.

Well that sucks. Not that GM won't pay for it; but that you have to. The part evidently is not considered a major part of the emmissions system and therefore would only be covered up to 24,000 miles (I think 2 yrs may be involved as well).
I'm not sure about your dealer, but I trust my dealer's service department 100%. If you don't, it doesn't hurt to call up several places and get quotes on getting the work done. I also have several trusted mechanic friends that I would contact. If you do; maybe one of them will replace it for $350 & case of Sam Adams!! (Assuming the $700 quote was real for this fix). Good luck.

I think that's the one where they have to pull the rear crossmember out . Big job.

Emissions are covered for 2 years or 24K miles, whichever comes first, for workmanship and defects. In other words if it was poorly assembled or if a part is defective and subsequently leads to failure, the failed part will be covered under warranty.
It doesn't sound like your vehicle meets the criteria. If that's the case, and seems that it is, how is this Chevrolet or GM's fault? Did you buy an extended warranty? If you can't afford to fix it, you need to be sure these issues are covered.

I'm sorry about your troubles, but it looks like that part is not covered beyond the basic warranty. Do you top off the gas when you pump? That's a big culprit of this part failing. Never top off at the pump. Gas can be allowed to get in hoses it's not supposed to and wreak havoc.
Aside from that, I just looked it up on AllData, and it is a pretty big job. You need to remove the rear cradle that houses all the rear suspension etc. The labor should be about 3.5 hours, making for around a $400 fix, but I can see somebody charging more labor than that because of the difficulty of the job. |

dealerships are generally the most expensive places to have work done. find a friend who would recommend a mechanic to you. I'm sure you can get your car fixed at a more reasonable price than the dealers.

You buy a car and gripe when a non-covered problem pops up at 4 years old. Fix it. My tires cost $1200 a set. I've already replaced a set and about to do another pair in less than 2 years. Waaagh. Buck up!
