Eliet engineering oil catch can 2013 LFX

Hey,

I installed an eliet catch can about 4 months ago.. besides for being very difficult to empty it seems to be collecting a lot more oil then I've seen compared to pictures on this forum. If i go 3K miles (one oil change cycle) its almost all the way filled up...

After realizing how quickly it fills up i check it more frequently and just yesterday i went to empty it and there was oil dripping down the side and the can was only half full... is this typical or is there a problem???

Thanks

No, you shouldn't have oil on the outside of the can. Make sure everything is tightened down and that the hoses are pushed all the way on. It shouldn't be hard to figure out where the oil is coming from.

Every car will be different and how the vehicle is driven will affect how much oil is caught. You should not have any leaking even if it gets full. Be sure you have plenty of Teflon on the threads of the fittings and be sure the can is tight.

There is a rubber O ring just above the threads on the top section of the can. You might want to check to make sure it is still there and hasn't been damaged. It might be possible for the oil to slosh up the side of the can while you are driving and leak down through the treads. You should have gotten a spare ring with the can if the original ring is gone or damaged. If you still have questions I would contact Elite's tech support on their web site.

I dont rev that high for day to day driving but when i want to get on it a bit, or am driving with friends ill bring it pretty close to red line...

When i changed it last i looked at the O ring and it looked fine, i just tightened it a little extra this time.. although i can't see how oil would be leaking from the threads considering how much of a pain this thing is to unscrew.

Mine did that as well. I removed the catch can and added a vented oil filler cap(breather) when I installed Supercharger. Breather works better and no need to empty a catch can.
