So witch car would you choose over the ZL1? Blind spots? Oh, You should just say that you didn't like the car! What interior do you like better? Collision? The Camaro has the best crash test rating! So I'll rather have a car that will save my life, than one with blind spot sensors! ! That stuff won't save your life, when collision happens!

2. I haven't seen any that weren't well over 60K. Not saying they aren't out there, just not the norm for sure. Most shelbys I would suspect weren't base models and have the track packages and what not, upping the price quite a bit. They are still asking over MSRP around here. Hell the dealer I bought my Transit connect for work had two of them and the one was nearly 70k! LOL

3. I cared. I thought it was a sad representation of the "halo"ford mustang.Only my opinion, not trying to rile up the ford guys. I would buy another 03-04 cobra over another 07+ GT500 every time. Can't speak for the 13+ shelby as I've no first hand experience with them.

If they don't fix the chassis this car will be lame to drive. It will be alot like the 2007-2010 GT500's. HP thrown and a car that needs chassis work. Fan boi's will like it but it will get handeled by cheaper cars.

I am going to be interested to see if the car will hook it. 700hp is 10 second power hands down. if it does not run 10's then it is a fail.

It really will be interenting to see if this projected 70-80k car can even beat a 2006 Z06 in any catagory. it will be like chryslers super snake. tones of venom to your wallet but at the track so-so.

hopefully I am wrong. I want the challenger to be a good perfromer but it is more a just a good looking car to me.

Ironlically the Zl1's traction from a dig with a manual is not the best but it just eats of curvy roads so good I don't care. I could launch my Z06 easier. I struggled to drive it as fast on unframiliar roads due tot he pucker factor that car had though.

I disagree. They made the ZL1 to compete against the GT500-right?
The ZL1 was the standard to have a high hp rating and handle is more accurate imo.

The Challenger R/T is Dodges answer to Fords Mustang GT and Chevys SS Camaro. The SRT8 Challenger was Dodges answer to the Zl1 and Shelby.

There's no way that the Helllcat Challenger will start off at $70 Gs. That would mean a fully optioned one will push 90. Thats almost Viper territory. I can see a fully optioned Hellcat going in the mid to high 60s thats 20 thousand more than the the SRT8 Challenger base price.

As far as its niche vs the ZL1 and GT500, I think itll out handle the Shelby and beat the ZL1 in a drag race. They will probably promote it as a best of both worlds car.
False! The SRT was for the SS ! too! The SRT came out in 2008 , The ZL1 2012! So Dodge didn't even know about a ZL1! That's why the Dodge ppl been feeling left out! Because Chevy and Ford kept coming out with a lot of different options ! Plus, they had no Dodge to buy, so they could compete against the GT500 or ZL1!

I have never not been able to find one at MSRP. if you modtivated it is there. some dealers add options though which can easily drive MSRP through the roof. a TP, PP, NAV, recaro car is like 66k. those are all options some would want.

GT500 has more of an option set thant he Zl1 so the price can range from 55k-70k MSRP.

You guys are missing the real news: The GT500 finally has some competition it can out handle. No amount of power is going to make that tank get around a track quickly.

So ZL1 still #1 where it matters. Anybody can add horsepower, try making those cars handle better then we can talk...

The key is the 8-speed auto..

Its no secret that high HP manual trans cars are a PIA to launch with factory tires, the auto trans will help alot.

If the 13/14 GT500 had a factory auto, it would be in the 10's for sure

Here in MI back in Jan/Feb there were a couple at $5k under MSRP, now with no replacement, the prices are holding with less than 400 new cars on dealer lots.

What's left of the 13/14 GT500's are selling out quickly as people have figured out that 662 HP may be the most powerful mustang ever made. It may also be the most powerful modern domestic muscle car ever made, Unless Ford,Dodge or GM builds a 700HP production car. The GT500 is faster than the ZL1 in the quarter and may be faster than the heavy Hellcat. The ZL1 is still a better all around car. I like all of the modern domestic muscle cars.
The next SVT mustang will be a Z28 type car with around 550HP. The Coyote motor is capable of alot more power on stock internals.

That's interesting, because back in July, there wasn't a single GT500 on a MI, OH, IN, or IL car lot. I looked/searched with a couple dealers, none.

Sure, it was winter, but hard to believe they would be hard to sell.

Muscle car wars are epic and enduring. Pick your horse, but with the $$ these things are getting to costing, you can beat 3800 lb + cars with another buy. If thats what your after, this ain't the pace.

The difference is GM has been dominating chassis development for over a decade. Cars like the Corvette, G8 GXP, CTS-V, ATS, Camaro, SS sedan (and Holden cousins) all have excellent balance and handling. What cars from Chrysler can you say that about that make you optimistic about the Hellcat's handling?
