zl1 rock guards ?
ZL1 rock guards or mud flaps what ever you call them ... My 2014 ZL1 came with guards on the rear tires from the factory but not on the front. Any one have them on the front tires ? Where can i get them ? and what do they look like on - Photos would be great. I am looking for ones that use factory holes. No drilling please. Thank you for any help

Can there be any less info on those guards? 1 photo. No mention of how to install. To order there is only an email address? No price. You need to add some details.

There are a few threads on this. Ones I bought use two existing bolts and come with two clips for top. I used 3m tape instead of clips.

The 3m tape is the way to go.

I plan on purchasing the SS front guard and take them to the body shop. Using those as a template to make custom ones. I do not like any of the aftermarket ones.

Not cheap, but very high quality. Do a search on them and you'll find plenty of pictures of them. They attach using the existing two screws on the bottom portion, and he provides clips to use for attaching the upper portion. No drilling is needed. Some people have an aversion to using the provided clips, so they choose to use some heavy duty 3M mounting tape instead. |

Those are the ones you want. No drilling, uses factory holes and screws and 3 clips that hold the top portion. High quality material. Plenty of pictures using the search button on this site including an entire thread comparing all the rock guard options. You can order them directly from that website also or numerous other venders. I have them and like them a lot. First mod I did.

Kinpin, I've got the exact set in the link below with all hardware and instructions. Never installed, brand new. I'll ship them to you for $100 if you are interested.

I'm looking for something much better. These ones catch and hold all the sand and gravel between the wheel well and the rock guard. This sand and gravel behind the rock guard pushes it forward, bending it away from the rocker, catch more sand and gravel. I have to take out the screws to clean behind it, every time I detail the car. Plus, they are not big enough. My side gills are chip from gravel. It's painfully Obvious the guy who made them, never used them. I'm searching for the thread with the bigger rock guards, made by a guy with a ZL1. |

I just can't imagine how they could get installed too far inward as long as you used the factory mounting holes at the bottom. Unless to moved the tops inward too far??? IF (and I say IF), they were somehow mounted too far inward, that might explain their ability to trap more debris behind them as you describe, as well as account for not protecting your gill area as much as you hoped for. Then again, I would expect the guards to protect the rocker panels since they are right behind the front wheel, but I don't think I would count on them to protect the gill are since those are far back from where the guards are located. When I had the clear bra applied, the applier recommended (as the most likely area to get stone chips) to get the front facia, the side mirrors and the gill area covered. |

Use 3m tape top to bottom - no gap for anything to get caught in
