I transfer again in 12-18 months so a warranty won't do me any good unless the business is in the next state, whichever that one is, that I transfer to. I do believe you get what you pay for, but there's an extent to also just getting burned and paying way over!
I would have no problem paying 2k for the entire car, but over 2k for just half the car!

I just got a quote in Des Moines, IA today. Only two authorized XPEL dealers in Des Moines, and only 5 or 6 in the entire state. Anyway, here's how it went:
I have a 2014 SS Spring Special Edition Vert. So, that means special front splitter, ground effects and different read diffuser. Xpel doesn't have have templates for the splitter and/or the ground effect package, so we're looking at hand-jive for those parts. First place says "Nice car - we won't do it. Only been installing for about a year and we don't have the experience to tackle that car - I appreciated the honesty and his taste in cars. ![]() Stopped at the 2nd, more experienced place. Installer has been with them 10-years. They are a dealership for BMW, Hummer (if it's still around), Lexus, Coopers and Mercedes. Anyway, good experience with upscale autos and an experienced dude. Whole front, including the splitter. Whole hood and both front fenders. Both door edges. About 8" along both sides, including the ground effects up to where the car has a ridge along the side. Rear quarters over the gills and behind the rear wheels - $2500 installed. It may be cheaper to look elsewhere, but I'm comfortable with the dealership and especially the installer. Looks like I'm going to pop on it later this week. I only have 500 miles on the car and already have a small hickey on the front. Don't want any more of that so here goes. Wish me luck.

It's awesome man. It makes it so you never have to wax again. Just wash dry, and some detail spray and it looks freshly waxed and feels freshly waxed and demonstrates all the same quality's of a freshly waxed car, with a ten year warranty. I had it on my 1/LE before this and I was skeptical at first but it is one of the best things I ever bought for the car, so I had to get it for the Z .
The place where I got my Xpel on says every customer who gets the xpel gets it. Here is the reading from the actual place where I got it done. Diamond Gloss®Ziebart Diamond Gloss is the toughest paint protection on the planet!* Diamond Gloss paint protection will keep your car’s paint looking like new. Diamond Gloss is a hard resin-based product designed to protect your car’s paint. Not to be mistaken for typical over-the-counter products, such as carnauba car wax or silicon polishes. Diamond Gloss bonds to your vehicle's paint to create a protective barrier that lasts for years, protecting your car’s paint while retaining its showroom shine.* Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk |

XPel Install
RodParis,
Hi there, I also had Willis put Xpel on basically the same areas and more. I highly recommend you have Brandon and him only to do your car! He did a fantastic job on my car, it took him a day in a half to complete everything. Hope to see you around the neighborhood sometime. If you have any questions about anything shoot me a PM, take care. Bill (Overpar73) Quote:

Just the kit was around $750 for part of the hood and mirrors all of front facia and front of bumper.

Look on the Expel site and you will see the price. So it looks like you payed 400 to 500 for labor, the shop would get the material at a less cost being a dealer. I like doing things myself, that's why I bought both cars. One reason I have both, I do not spend on outside labor. It's all fun to me doing on the little spare time I have. I also got the part for the Z28 splitter. First time on the ZL1 I did it in 5 hours, the second time I did it in 3

I don't doubt you! Just find it weird. Then again the place I got it done is an authorized dealer /installer so I'm sure they get a better price then the normal consumer.

It's not that hard to do if you see it done. I would think the dealer gets 50% off so they get a lot for the install.

I would say that's a fair statement. I have seen it done and give you credit , myself I would not want to do it, to tedious for me. I'll stick to wrenches and screw drivers.

Remember there was a time none of us knew how to use screw drivers or wrenches.
I figure everyone did it the first time, so I figure I can do the same. |
