I guess I would agree the v6 isn't a "muscle car", I would define that as a larger displacement v8.
I would call the v6 a sports car, especially with all the suspension parts available both aftermarket and from gm performance. It doesn't really matter what people say though, you buy what you can afford and what you like. I have to admit I would like a v8, but I chose the options of a 2LT over a base 1SS. If I had money for a 2SS or a ZL1 I would get it, but I don't. These cars look great no matter what engine they have, and are quicker than a large percentage of cars you pass in traffic each day. Can't really worry about what the next guy thinks, enjoy what you worked hard to get. |

Everyones going to have their opinion...i personally didnt buy my camaro for a muscle car status, i bought it because it looks nice and i got it for a fair price....its just like people that make fun of hondas...but then you have civics running in the 9's...everyone has their own taste...no harm unless you let it get to you...

It might not be a "true" muscle car. I can definitely say when I think of muscle car, I think of a V8. I personally own a V6. When I purchased it made more sense to buy the V6 and it has 323 hp stock which is more then enough to kick up some dirt and have some fun. Regardless of engine size if you think of camaro, challenger, mustang etc your still gonna think of it as a muscle car.

This discussion has been going on for years. OHV vs flathead, Big block vs small block, v8 vs v6... It will continue to be discussed for many years to come.
Bottom line: Love the one you're with and ignore the people who give you crap about it.

Anyone considering any new car as a muscle car:
You should have been raised in the 70's you would have LOVED IT, like we did! |

Your v6 does not fall under the classic muscle car definition. Of course, my v8 doesn't either. Just be happy with what you drive knowing it makes you happy without worrying about what someone else will call your car.

The term "muscle car" means far more to those of us who grew up in that era.

No the V6 mustang camaro or challanger are not muscle cars. My sti and evolution awd sedans are NOT muscle cars neither although some ppl actually try to classify them as a awd import muscle car lol.
When you think american muscle you think a rumbly, loud, powerful, poor handling V8. The V6's are not a p.o.s and in thier way hold thier own. Be proud of what you have and to Hell what anyone else thinks. |

2013 Camaro V6:
-323 HP -6 speed manual -0-60 5.x -top speed (electronically limited) 155 -lateral gs 0.92 2010 Mustang GT: -315 HP -5 speed manual -0-60 5.x -top speed (drag limited) 151 -lateral gs 0.95 If the Camaro V6 isn't a muscle/sports car then mustang gt wasn't a muscle/sports car until 2011... Unless of course you just define muscle car by number of cylinders and noise but if that's the case then it's a total crap shoot. How many loud V8s are out there? |
