Muffler Delete, Resonator Delete

OK, so after being a part of the community for a little over a week now, I guess it's time for my contribution. A little over a week ago I brought home a 2010 Camaro 2SS RS A6. The stock sound was way too quiet for my taste. Although I still have 2 more years left of my enlistment, my girlfriend is separating in the coming months which means we will no longer have a consistent income. That being said, a $1200 cat back exhaust system didn't seem practical. I heard a friend of mines 5.0 and loved the sound so asked what he had done to it. He told me it was his stock exhaust and that he had just had his mufflers and resonators cut off. That was the winner. The 5.0, like our m6, has a factory h pipe.. unlike my a6... So I called the muffler shop he referred me too and told him what I wanted to do, asked if they had x pipes, and he told me we'll make it happen. In the days leading up to the project I searched countless threads and websites trying to see how this would sound. I found one youtube clip that had pretty weak audio. I read about the AFM delete and sounding like crap so I purchased the Range adapter and has since been installed.

Long story short I want to share my pics and videos here for anyone thinking about the same thing in hopes that they dont have as difficult a time trying to find some clips as I did.

Nor sure how to upload Vids so heres the links

Sounds pretty good! What did it wind up costing you excluding the Range module?

If you had searched a little better, you would have found out that the A6 does indeed have a H pipe as well. It's located inside the huge resonator section. There are a few pics of it around here somewhere. Either way, you now have a X pipe and got rid if of the resonator since it does weigh in at around 14lbs. I'm personally not a fan of the muffler delete but as long as you're happy with it, then it's all good. Time to start doing some REAL performance mods.

I knew there was an h pipe... Trust me I did loads of searching. But I can't remove the resonator without removing the h pipe.. That is what I meant. It cost 350$ out the door. Seems a bit high but he did make the x pipe at the shop and I LOVE the way it sounds so I was very willing to pay. I'll add an intake and maybe headers down the road but that'll probably be it.

Sorry, I took your post as saying that the A6 doesn't have a crossover at all.

Yeah, you could have come out a bit cheaper but in the end it's all good. The only thing i'd worry about is how well he made the X pipe. With as cheap as you can buy them, it really makes little sense to have someone make one for you.

I have pics of the x pipe I can post later. Looks like ago of job. All stainless and good welds. I'm no expert but I'll just have to keep an eye on it. I was actually looking into buying a bbk I found on CL but when I called for the appointment and he told me we could make it happen I guess I just assumed that they carried some there. Either way, as mentioned, I love the sound, no real drone, and saved a ton of money. Now I just need to find a place with a good deal on powdercoating wheels :p

You should consider Solo HF Cats $575 before anything else. They will definitely make your exhaust deeper and louder. Plenty of utube clips to listen to and you could install them yourself fairly easily if you have ramps or jack stands.

yeah high flow cats and headers are still in the back of my mind. This will do for now but Im sure down the road ill want more sound and power. I assume installing those high flows will still allow the car to pass emissions?

Yes, they don't throw CELs.
