I was thinking the same thing! That would have sucked bigtime.

I'll add the comment that the car invites you to dig deeper, and deeper. It's very benign and confidence inspiring. It's also razor sharp in responses, somewhat like a racecar but without all the nasty rattling Heim joints and jarring ride. It's tightly composed but supple which is a beautiful thing. Perfect for a DE car. The on/off of the grip at the very limit though is going to catch a lot off people off guard.

Z, Check out the pedals in this link.
http://www.srpracing.com/pd_camaro_2...ing_pedals.cfm

I will probably install just the accelerator pedal in the ZL. Curious to know if these would work for you also. Wish we had checked the pedal layout between cars while I was there. Sorry to hear about your off, but it does not sound like too much happened. For not feeling well you looked pretty good out there, and it was crazy hot.

There is another member who has a ZL1 and Z28 here on the forums. He should be able to tell you if these pedals would work on the Z28. I'll edit in his user name. Nice to meet you and Brt, Next time I won't miss sign up.

Nice to meet you as well, and THANKS for the link! Even with my size 14 feet, I have to use my old Pilotis instead of my "racing" shoes, as the Pilotis are wider and barely enable me to heel/toe...

Great to meet you! I've used SRP pedals in a car and they are just awesome first-quality products. Thanks for the memory jog. I'll give things the eyeball and see what makes sense to try.

Yes, by all means get signed up and we'll run some Camaro Pack Laps...lol! However, I won't be back over the hill to the 'Hill until temps drop some. I hate 100f+ track days.

I think I have the opposite problem. Size 9 has a hard time bridging the gap. In my previous cars it has been more toe and edge of foot. Pedals were closer together, and the pedal heights were closer to equal height. I think in my case the accelerator pedal should get me closer to what I'm used to. Take care and see you next time.

Isn't that mostly an R-comp phenomenon?

My Toyo R888's can be that way. I'll be trying to induce a little oversteer and then ...... here comes the back end. Only happens at the limits.

Yes. They make the rubber for the Trofeo in the same race-compound cooking vats used for the F1 slicks. Cool stuff.

My thought it was 1. change in track surface (friction) from asphalt to concrete, 2. Race-rubber 3. Mass.

Lesson learned for me- beware of trackout strips, because the Z will lead you to push to the prevailing limits and when one variable changes the inevitable must occur. Track guys understand

I'll be especially interested to read your comments once you (finally) get your car and get it on track. Especially in regards to how progressive or not you find the tires to be at the limit. To me it was like race rubber.

Now from looking at the video it appears contact with the painted white line is what may have initiated the traction loss. 50/50 that or the track out strip.

Heat (100-105f ambient) possibly makes the paint slippery? Good question?

Whatever, still a good lesson learned for future reference.

New track. Fresh paint. Change in surface material (?). Running hard. Bad combo.
