In the above pic, the top is stock, the bottom left is a Bo White, and the black one is a Vmax. Is ended up swapping back and forth on the dyno, then on the street. I wish I had definitive numbers, but I had what seemed to be belt slip issues after 4500 rpm. On my stock TB, fully tuned run, I was at 540HP/560TQ with 11.17 PSI peak boost, and 9.66psi at 6250 rpm. We swapped to the BW TB, and then retuned, as it leaned out down low (indicating increased airflow). Then another pull, and gained 3 lb/ft at peak TQ, but lost some HP due to what seemed like belt slip. On that run I was down to 10.7 PSI peak, with 7.73 psi at 6250 rpm. So almost .5 psi less peak boost, and almost 2psi lost at 6250. Finally, we switched to the Vmax. It richened back up down low, which seems to indicate a little less airflow. It peaked at 11.31 psi boost, with about 10psi at 6250. With the higher boost numbers I was back up to 543 HP and 563 lb/ft. If I was getting those boost numbers with Bo's TB, I bet I could have bested those numbers.
Drivability wise, I can say with the Vmax vs the BW, the BW takes a big steaming do-do on the Vmax. I pulled over and switched back and forth. It confirmed on my Wideband that it is a little leaner with the BW than with the Vmax, which I interpret as increased airflow. I am going to have a much harder time keeping tires on this thing with all this throttle response! |

Take what you will from the above, but based on my experience I call the Bo White TB a success. I love it! And if anyone is wondering, I paid for the dyno time myself, and paid for the TB. Borrowed the Vmax from a friend for the testing. We did four pulls prior to any TB swapping to dial my tune in.

This is a very interesting thread. I thought I was set on a Vmax. Thought

Well, just give Jason@Jacfab a shout. Like I said, for about the same price, I'd take the BW piece all day. What you can't see is that the Vmax is machined so far at the inlet that it has started to collapse from the pressure of just a hose clamp. It is actually sharp!

Will these take a long time to produce? When can we start to expect the lfx Bo tbs to come out?

The biggest issue with the LFX TB's is that we are trying to source the replacement plug that goes on the end of the throttle blade shaft. It's not the same as the LS3/L99 plug... The porting, and mods won't take long at all... Once we find the plug, it's on and they will be on their way.

Very good info 2012LS3VERT. Thanks. Even with the belt slip issue I think the gains with the BW TB speak for themselves. Only question I have: won't the PCM, when it sees more air, throw more fuel into the mix?

Yes, your PCM will adjust the air/fuel using long term fuel trims after driving for a while. We adjusted it on the dyno because back to back runs isn't enough run time for the computer to adjust.

I just want to be fair, so I'll make this statement: The Vmaxx TB is a nice piece. It definitely increases throttle response over stock, and it still is a good option for some. I wouldn't sell a Vmaxx to get a BW, but I would consider having him (through Jacfab, of course) do the shaft mod to a Vmaxx. I took the plug out of my stock TB to see how hard it is, and I definitely see how there is some technique to it, and room to definitely jack up the TB if you don't know what you are doing. I also feel better knowing that the inlet side of Bo's TB is a lot thicker, a couple spots on the Vmaxx feel like tinfoil, and he gets similar results.
I'll try to scan the dyno sheet soon, my scanner at the house isn't working. |

Oh I can mic the thickness and take a detailed pic of how thin the one I have is, I just didn't want to seem like I was bashing the Vmax or anything.
