Question Mosport International T.O. Group Day

UPDATE - an email was sent to them inquiring about group rates and track availability. I have not heard anything back from them, will keep you all posted.

Just throwing this out there....any body interested in getting together as a group in the fall and booking some time at Mosport. I'm not talking about racing but just a day or 1/2 day with the track to ourselves to get to know our New Camaro's a little better and have some fun? I think it can be organized through http://www.dexterautosport.com/ and here is a ink to Mosport http://www.mosport.com/home/home.asp

I'd be happy to contact them to see what kind of price we are talking about once and if I can get a firm head count that are truly interested.

Let me know a price and the possibly dates (I do shift work so I need to know pretty well in advance) and I'll probably be in.

If it's Early September I will have my diverters received and installed (hopefully)

I have a friend with a Mustang that would definately be interested as well. Split's the cost a bit more and gives us someone to beat on

Are you thinking of getting onto the "Big Track" (GP circuit) or the DDT (Driver Developmnent Track?
Just a word of caution and something to consider if you are thinking about the GP track, which is one the most challenging road courses in the world...
this is not the track to start out learning on if you are a track virgin!!! It is a very fast, highly technical track with huge elevation changes. It is also extremely unforgiving if you should happen to run off the track, as the likelihood is you will run into a wall or a tire barrier. Things happen so quickly on that track that you can find yourself in deep trouble in a split second and if you don't have the experience and/or training, you could find yourself in a very serious accident. I've seen it happen numerous times in the 5 years I've been running on that track. I've seen someone go into a wall on a parade lap because he lifted his foot off the throttle in the wrong place and totally upset his car's balance!

On the other hand, the DDT is an excellent track for beginners and novices. It is a very challenging track with some elevation changes. It is a slower track with tighter turns (also harder on brakes and tires than the "Big Track") - but - it is a very forgiving track in that if you mess up and go "agricultural", there is lots of runoff and really only one wall. This smaller track is a lot safer and probably as much fun - especially if you are a beginner or a novice. It is also not intimidating, which could add to the enjoyment factor.

Not trying to rain on anybody's parade, but it is always better to err on the side of caution/safety. Getting involved in road racing will teach you your car's limits and your own with the net result you becoming a much, much better driver.

Best regardSS,

Elie

When I went to Dunnville the driving instructor said the same thing, Mosport is very fast, tricky and is almost surrounded by concrete walls. The track at Dunnville is on an airport and there is plenty of runoff and only a few haybails to worry about.

I was assuming we were talking about the DDT. At least for the first couple times
