TOW HOOKS REVISITED

Now that some of us have the cars to look over what to do about this oversight by gm.

I think zfat was lucky to have a tow guy who actually cared.

I did not want to remove the front but I see no other way so does anyone know for sure if this will fit?
http://www.jdpmotorsports.com/jdp-mo...hook-jdpse1002
Tyler for JDP has posted that it will fit a 2014 but no mention of z/28

And Brt3 found these http://www.summitracing.com/parts/vm...JdFHA9KH_D_BwE

or there is this method that would work both front and back…see post #18
http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=319782
certainly looks like the way to go for the rear…or drill a hole under the license plate and maybe not have to remove the rear??

Of the few on here that will track, what are your plans for resolving this?

I was lucky.

I'm doing the "Moreno Special" full bumper. Save weight, look good. Hassle and expense but an elegant solution. Just ordered my RennLine Tow Hook(s) a few minutes ago.

A darn unfortunate oversight by GM for an otherwise perfect track car.

Don't use a strap style. Unless you have an external mounting point the strap will move as you get towed and wreck your grill or rub paint off.

The talented Moreno Team have been working on a solution for that as well. They can jump in and update.

Now, if you have to be hooked and lifted (flat tire, bad damage, etc), I don't have any good ideas of how to facilitate that situation. I'll take a look at it when it's on the rack again to try and figure something but am open to ideas in the meantime.

I have a Sparco Tow strap I will be installing next week (to a 13 1LE) before my next track day on 21st

I may have a option to avoid cutting anything on the rear fascia and avoiding any damage when used.....and is "should" work on the 2014+ as well.

I will post a how to and pictures when I get it installed.

If you want to see my front installed (again on a 2013) it is in my build thread in my signature.

Saw this at Sears Point; the guy just removes his rear plate, screws in the tow hook, and he's off. If it's not obvious because of the wiring, this tab is welded to the rear crash bar:

Very Nice...

That is essentially what I was going to do, but with a strap bolted on that can be accessed by removing the plate.

I also plan to go with the Rennline tow hooks. Take a look at their website - they also offer several mounting brackets that might work depending on where you want the hooks located.

I can solve this problem. How many want the front and rear tow hooks?

I will make a keyed hook that you just push in and turn, no need to remove front or rear! I can make them so easy. I will show a pic soon.

Here is how I would do it. The rear just remove plate and bolt a hook, even do like the front.
