No new switch - that's a myth. GM's fix is new keys. They're going to separate the mechanical key from the fob.

Booooo. They'll only get one back from me.

Same here. If I have to bring it in, I'm only giving them one!

When I spoke to the service rep as to the VIN's effected he got downright short with me. My salesman said he'd make sure the one he is attempting to sell me is unaffected. Of course I don't see how this could be as it as well as our present 2014 has the hideaway push button key feature. Just read an article that states all of these type fobs are to be replaced. Hmmmmmmm. Dealerships are either unaware or playing dumb to this recall. Seems GM is setting themselves up for more litigation.,

Well, there are news bulletins everywhere, CNN, facebook, auto sites galor. All Gen 5 Camaro's are affected, 512,000 of them.
The dealers are not allowed to sell any camaro's untill the recall is completed. This is for used vehicles as well.

Mike,
Its here, but can't be sold, there is a stop sale on all Camaro.
We have no word on how long the stop will be on.

Friday the 13th deserves its reputation.
I am glad the car made it, it was just behind those in the Midwest like you thought. Definitely stinks that this key issue hit on the same day.

Sorry, help me out here. Is the flip key the issue, and is the fix to replace it with a fixed-blade key? Keyless Go is looking better all the time...

Just got off the phone again with the sales manager and they finally acknowledged that I won't be picking up my car this weekend. Said he'd call Monday and we'll go from there. Some timing eh'. Been planning and researching for weeks and "Bam!" No sale.

OH CRAP!!!

Man.

I hope they put the "fix" in at the assy line. But probably not.

Who works at the plant? Do they know if they are putting the fix in now at assy? If so, what start date? Mine was built 3 days ago.

Yeah they are replacing the flip key with a regular key and separate fob. GM is saying ignition can be turned off by bumping the flip key with your knee.
