A couple turns before the spin, you were hard on the brakes then turned the wheel abruptly into the corner. A more fluid line through the corners would have helped. A boss 302 on my bumper would sure get my adrenaline pumping though. Glad the car is ok. Didn't know it was you or I wouldn't have posted vid in other thread, looks like it got deleted.

I was desperately trying to heel/toe which resulted in the jerkiness. You try and be smooth on corner set-up when moving your feet like a monkey. I'm normally very smooove. SRPracing pedals order a couple days ago, that'll fix that sh*t.

I ordered just the srp gas pedal. Do you know if the accelerator assembly can easily be removed to install the pedal on the bench?

The engine's sensors and ECU will trigger coolant/oil overtemp warnings if harmful temps are encountered (personally haven't seen them). That's what I am currently using as my "temperture limit", whatever is programmed into the ECU. If someone has the capability to determine what numbers are programmed into the ECU that would be valuable and interesting factual information. Warming up and cooling down the engine is just as important, if not more so, from an engine wear and damage standpoint as a max observed oil temp.

I'm looking into Aeroforce Technology's "Interceptor" gauges for a couple other track related reasons, and it looks like for many GM cars they can read the same oil temperatures that GM's PCM uses.

That doesn't mean pull into the pits and shut her down. After the afternoon sessions, I always did some cool down driving on the access roads and skidpad, just to be sure. I may enjoy my cars on track, but I also treat them right. Which begs the question -- there has to be something in the software that will dial down the fun if the ECU believes that temps have risen too high? This seems to be standard for every manufacturer these days. I've driven plenty of cars advertised as being track ready. Many of these cars have issues with turning tail and going into limp-home mode once the going gets tough. The Z/28 never once, in two days of running in daytime highs from 104 to 106 degrees, cried Uncle...

...I'm no expert, for sure, but I'm going with the coolant temp theory....That is, if your coolant is within range, no overheating, your oil temp will likely be ok....
...Most cars don't have an oil temp gauge, anyhow....No gauge, No worries!....lol..... Last edited by 90503; 06-18-2014 at 12:31 AM. |

I've been reminded and will remind other readers- Install Mobil1 or other high-quality synthetic 15w-50 weight engine oil if you are going to be tracking in the summer. The heavier oil provides critical additional protection at the higher temps. You must remove the rain guard from under the hood and dilute the coolant. All per owners manual spec. I am agreeing with you on this.
