Miscellaneous ramblings

Just came back from a nice hour or so drive in my Camaro. On a positive note, she still handles well and gets from point A to point B very quickly. I also changed gears frequently, braked multiple times, and never once jarred my key fob causing they key to move out of the "run" position.

The only downer I had was that I waved to two other Gen5 Camaros and neither one waved back. WTF!

That only applies to a service YOU are going to be paying for. If its a safety recall they have every right to perform it, because its their butt on the line if they don't and it fails.

I always liked where the ignition switch was on my 2008 Saturn Aura. The Camaro dash actually has a perfect spot for this. The HUD controls could of be made differently and moved somewhere else. The could of been integrated with the headlamp switch panel, with steering wheel mounted controls or in one of the menus of the DIC.

What is funny was I remember a few threads of people complaining about the switchblade key opening up while still in their pockets. That has happened to me a bunch of times and it is annoying...

I was just thinking, how many people die every year from having tire blowouts? Why hasn't the government required all tires to be runflats?

You have proved my theory: It takes a double-jointed contortionist to the the key fob while driving and cause it to turn off.

Not sure I'll be taking my car in for this one. I can't think of a time when my knee was even close to touching the fob.
Same. I have between 8-10 inches of space between my right kneecap, and the bottom-most part of my key.

Unfortunately, if GM did nothing about the key fob "issue" and a few more people "died" as a result, we'd all be up in arms about their lack of corrective action on the issue.

That said, I'm not turning my fob's in... it's not like they are going to storm my house and demand them.

4. None of this would even matter if, as I've said many times before, if people were just intelligent enough to not crash and die due to something simple like the engine turning off.

FULLY agree and well said!

Keyed trunk release? What's this of which you speak?

As far as I know, my 2012 only has the glow-in-the-dark grab handle on the trunk lid. I suppose you could call that "hidden behind the rear seat".

Here's about how much room I have.

I sit rather close and I have the column rather low in my lap, but I still can't touch the fob with my knee unless I slouch even further. I'm 6'2" and I haven't had any issues for the 18,000 mile I put on my car.
