KIWANIS KARS 4 KIDS SHOW REMINDER

15th ANNUAL
KIWANIS KARS FOR KIDS
CAR SHOW & CAMARO5 LUNCHEON

-SATURDAY, JUNE 14th, 2014-
7AM-10AM SETUP | 10AM-3PM CAR SHOW
$25 PRE-REGISTRATION | $30 DAY OFF

Howdy everyone, just wanted to post up a reminder for the Kiwanis Kar Show for this Saturday. A few folks have already registered and a few more will be registering the day of which is great, but just wanted to remind that if you register the day of it will an additional $5. The show is great and there's a plethora of classic cars and muscle that attend this show, so even if you don't plan on partaking in the show come on out and check it out although it would be grand if you were able to display your Camaro with us.

We are still planning on setting up the display in the same manner as previously sketched out, but we will display four (4) 5th Gens on each side with the canopy(ies) splitting the middle and have Eric's (Viper1cobra) SIM 2010 Camaro RS and his matching silver w/black rallies parked in the center side by side. If you have any memorabilia for the 5th Gen Camaro, bring it along. It's shows like these that one loves to display what they got.

Also, everyone is responsible for their own chairs. I will be bringing two (2) canopies and stakes, hopefully they fit, and a cooler to store our drinks for the duration of the show. Food is available at the show for purchase and there is a Taco Bell just down the block. Remember that it WILL BE HOT out, so proper hydration and sun block should be taken into high consideration. And dress accordingly, by this I mean it will be hot and there is o need to dress to impress. Everyone will be checking out the cars not your sense of fashion. Dress comfortably and cool (temperature wise) so that way you're not uncomfortable the entire day.

If you are not able to make the early part of the day we are still meeting at Farley's for a late lunch at 3:30 and Farley's will hold spots for us in the parking lot, so we NEED everyone that is planning on attending that as well to post up on here on whether you will joining AND how many will be in your party.

As always, much appreciated everyone and thank you for coming out and representing the club both in El Paso and Las Cruces. More event are being planned in the coming moths as well as June 28th for our Transformers Movie Premiere w/Allen Theaters (POST# 6771), so be sure to save that date.

If you have any question please feel free to call me at (575) 649-4624.

"General Motors announced a new recall of 512,000 Camaros, saying a flaw can switch the popular sports car off while it's being driven."

http://money.cnn.com/2014/06/13/auto...html?hpt=hp_t3

Hey guys, you're going to have to take your Gen 5 Camaros in to get the ignition switch fixed. They will give you a new key for the car. They will take away your flip keys. This effects 2010 to 2014 Camaros. This is all over the news. You have great cars, you just need to get the ignition switch fixed.

Edit, I don't think they will switch out your ignition switch. They will just give you new keys.

If you take it to Viva, take the internet coupons from the Viva Website, and they can change your oil for pretty cheap. I think they can also detail your car for about $90 with internet coupon. And no, I don't work for Viva.

We are gauging interest in the Members that would be willing to go to White Sands on June 21st, then those that want can go to Louis's annual BBQ in Las Cruces afterward. This is to celebrate one last time with Greg (aka danvillevidd) and Shellie before they move to Florida at the end of the month.

Please post up if you are interested in an all day Cruise to White Sands and Las Cruces. The BBQ starts at 1400. If interested, I recommend leaving El Paso nlt 0700. It is approximately 75 mins from the East side. We will meet on or near Transmountain so we can caravan to White Sands National Monument.

Attendees:

Danvillekidd
Viper1cobra
Black14RS
Cam77
Jesustinoco (Tentative)
Garfield1969
14DPTcamaro1le (Tentative)
Gigachip
Mothraisnotapokemon

About the BBQ at Louis' house, everyone wanting to attend needs to take the food that they want grilled, and any beverage s they want. The theme this year is the 50's it's not required but he is asking if people will dress the look. The BBQ starts at 1400.

This is the most up to date list. This event will take place next weekend. For the Members in El Paso we will meet on Transmountain nlt 0900. It should take about 1 hr 15 min to drive. Once there we will meet the Las Cruces group and danvillekidd at the Visitors Center around 1030. From there we will caravan into the park taking pictures along the way. We will look for an open area to park and set up the cars for a photo shoot. Then we can proceed further into the park and find some open tables with cover to sit and talk while the kids that want to play in the sand can. Afterwards we will depart the park, and those wanting to attend Louis's BBQ in Las Cruces, we will caravan there. On the way we will need to find a store to buy our food for the BBQ.

If anyone has other ideas please feel free to throw them out. This is an open cruise, nothing is set in stone. The ideas I posed are only suggestions that worked the last time we did this.

I'm gonna opt out of this recall. I've had a similar situation that had occurred to me about 4 years ago when I would drive my old 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee when I use to have a long-ass lanyard connected to my keys, you guys remember those hahaha, and my foot accidentally step on the lanyard while driving the Jeep on the freeway and completely turned out my ignition while I was going around 70mph. Now, I could be like those everyday complainers and find a way to shoot blame on someone else and not accept the responsibility that the lanyard was a hazard to begin with, but I was able to acknowledge what had happened that my vehicle shut down and calmly and safely pulled to the side of the road and was able to realize that I had accidentally turned off the jeep, lol.

People should take responsibility and utilize proper driving skills, especially during emergencies and react calmly, safely and practice proper comprehension of the situation and see if it is something that they are in the fault for instead of automatically blaming others. That is just my two cents and personal opinion on many of these complaints that take place and everyday situations now a days.

Besides, I put a lot of hard work to customize my Key to match the red bowties I have on the car that I'm not gonna trade that thing in for a boring standard key. Keeping my current key FOB.
